The convention season is slowing down like molasses on... uh... something that makes molasses slow. Our conventions manager Josh will be hitting AnimeUSA Nov. 12-14, but after that he'll be going into convention hibernation for a while. During that time, we'll be planning for next year.
This is where you come in. Since conventions are created for the fans to enjoy, we want to know what you guys think of our panels. Have you been to a FUNimation panel? What did or didn't you like about it? What else would you like to see? These questions and more can be found in our 2010 FUNimation Conventions Survey. We want to know how we can make our panels a better experience for you.

Hi, im sure you have heard of the recent rumors about there being a new dragonnball anime in the works by akira toriyama im a huge db fan and i wanted to know if this was true thanks
I actually have attended almost all the Funimation panels done at Anime Next except for the sneak peak one this year. I couldn't make it. One thing I love if you guys keep coming back every year to AN though the new guy was obviously green and new at the job at the industry panel.
I got to agree with V free stuff. I put that in the survey too. I know you get free stuff if you buy stuff at booth but not everyone has money for stuff and well more free stuff.
1 - the NYAF panel was head-and-shoulders above the Bandai one, which was a depressing one.
2 - in general, we like big announcements, but recognize that this is seasonal (*every* con isn't going to be the one announcing the dub cast of the next big hit show)
3 - have VA's who are present sarcastically act out scenes from the show. I mean joke scenes. I'm referring to what Futurama did at San Diego Comic Con when they got renewed. They had the Fry, Leela, and Bender VA's do a live-reading of a parody script making fun of the show.
4 - the days when ADV would throw free DVDs into the audience, literally, are sadly gone. But people love it when you throw stuff into the audience. Even if its literally just the business card advertisements you hand out at the FUNimation booth. Even Bandai was throwing out t-shirts for Q&A questions at their panel. Times are rough, but even worthless idiotic kochki stuff is fun if its "free and I got it at a panel" -- i.e. those Dragonball Goku hair cardboard burger king hats? Stay the course.
5 - Do not sacrifice Q&A, its a big reason why the hardcore fans come...and it helps pad out a panel when you've run out of stuff to talk about (yes, a lot of people at NYAF left when Q&A began, but many stayed, and otherwise it would have ended).
6 - ...you are going to get bombarded with fan questions about major shows, this is just a fact of life. Obviously, I'm "the Evangelion guy".....but the consumers have spoken: Rebuild of Evangelion 1.11 was officially the best-selling FUNimation title of the past year, beating even Dragonball. You're going to need to watch it thoroughly to be able to handle the fans (I think you said you hadn't seen the original series...grab a copy of the Platinum Edition DVDs (which have the Director's Cuts which are 22 minutes of new scenes) and then watch End of Evangelion. Completely skip Death & Rebirth its one of those summary clip show things which even FUNimation usually excludes from its box sets).
7 - Jess and her squad of cosplaying helpers seemed oddly absent from the NYAF panel....might be just where I was sitting. I did see them around the convention, maybe they were at the booth. Anyway, having helpers in cosplay makes it feel a lot more like a big glitzy hollywood promotion.
Overall, stick to the great powerpoint work they're well put together; the little animations go a long way, vs Bandai's which was like reading off a sheet.
Hopefully you'll run into my men at Sakura-Con, Tekkoshocon, and a few others next year where we're trying to run more Evangelion panels.

You have to check out the page for the Eden of the East Contest. They Updated it to tell who the winner are.
Non panel related feedback from me. Improve your customer service guys, if someone is actually at the end of the [email protected] email address they don't actually answer. Comes accross as really ignorant in all honesty.
Sent an email from my other address reporting some websites that had your stuff streaming illegally and no one bothered answering.
Will do.
Say, what ever happened with the Eden of the East contest? It's been all silent from you guys since it ended weeks ago.
I've only been to 2 conventions so far and those have been the past 2 years of A-Kon here in Dallas. Unfortunately, I did not see Funi there, so I haven't seen a panel yet. I'd love to visit a panel, but since I don't have the money to travel to one of the larger cons, I'm stuck with the limited selection in Dallas (A-Kon and AnimeFest are the 2 Anime ones that I am aware of, I'm sure there is more though).
Sadly I haven't been able to make it to a convention yet.
Yeah I know I'm missing out. I've seen the vids you post, and they look great. So whenever I get the chance I'll be sure to enjoy your pannel. Just need the money to make it now. :?
