In an attempt to come up with an epic April Fools' Day joke, we've discovered that being a publicly owned corporate company doesn't allow for much hijinx when it comes to releasing false information. So in an effort to demonstrate that we WOULD have like to celebrate this day of hoaxes and practical jokes, here a couple of the ideas that we could NOT execute:
Due to overwhelming success of Afro Samurai's Hollywood cast, we decided to employ an all-star cast for the new Evangelion movies. Here is the main cast selected with more to follow:
Shinji Ikari: Shia Labeouf
Rei Ayanami: Lindsey Lohan
Asuka Langley Sohryu: Miley Cyrus
Misato Katsuragi: Angelina Jolie
Gendou Ikari: Samuel L. Jackson

FUNimation has dropped One Piece and has purchased the rights to the original seasons of Pokemon. Open auditions for Pokemon will be held April 18th. We have already cast for Ash Ketchum and uploaded his audition tape here.
There's a ton more we came up with that were too "controversial" to even talk about. I guess they'll have to remain in the abyss I call my head.

A great prank would have been to announce the release of a second season of The Ouran High School Host Club.
I would have gotten all excited and fallen for it!
Some companies still do it, and make a REALLY big deal out of doing it too!! Blizzard Entertainment for example! I absolutely loved it, lots of people fall for them every year too!
I just thoguth of another good one. "Funimation is producing the third sequel to MD Geist", lol! Worst anime ever made, part 3! It would have been extra funny because Funimation had nothing to do with the first 2.
A particularly fun one would've been "Funimation has bought the rights to all of the Shonen Jump series ever made, including the ones that Viz had".
That, or, for sheer shock factor, "Funimation has bought Gonzo and merged with them".
I think the news of a Fruits Basket 2 would've gone over fairly well entertainment wise... Or "Due to the commercial success of the new Dragon Ball Live Action Movie, a Live Action TV Series produced by Funimation has begun pre-production efforts." That might've worked too.
But you know it's not true, Richard.
Among other things; I loved when Coleen Clinkenbeard (as Negima's Sakurako) said "He's A Bachelor."
They should have done that on the main page Richard J.

I hate it too. You spend the whole day wondering when someone is going to do something to make your day a nightmare and being completely unsure if anything anyone says to you is even half true.

Scariest April Fool's Day fake news for Funi would have been "Funimation bought by Al Khan! Name changed to Fun4Kids!"
