Live Q&A - Lightning Round!

Before closing out the first month of the year Rojas and I wanted to have another Live Q&A session with all of you.

FUNimation Live Q&A: Monday January 30th at 6pm Central Time

The last one we had was quite popular but due to the HUGE amount of questions we got it was impossible to answer them all. We are going to try and correct that this time by having the format of this Q&A be a Lightning Round!

What this means is that we will answer each question as fast as we can with a very short and concise response. We will collect question on YouTube for the first 10 minutes of the Q&A and then after that answer as many as we can from that group.

Things to know about this Q&A to make it totally awesome for everyone:
- Don't start submitting questions until we say to. We won't start the 10 minute timer until we are sure everything is good to go on with the live stream.
- Please only submit your question once. Since we will be reading all the questions we will get to yours as well.
- Spam posts will not be answered. Keep it clean and we all can have nice things.
- Keep your questions to ones that could be answered easily with a sentence or two when possible. If you want to know the complete history of FUNimation, we recommend to wait until our next Q&A to ask that one.
- You may submit more than one question. Instead of asking the same question five times, how about asking five questions once.

The Sengoku Basara Tag-Team Tournament of Time!

Happy Lunar New Year! It's the Year of the Dragon and what better way to celebrate than with a Battle Royale for the Ages! A No-Holds-Barred Rumble between Historical Figures from both East and West! This isn’t the smack-down of the century. No. This is a Smack-Down ACROSS Centuries! Only one team will survive this epic confrontation between military minds, wily warriors, rock stars, scoundrels, and heroes. Who will claim victory? Who will achieve eternal glory? Which team will be crowned champion of The Sengoku Basara Tag-Team Tournament of Time? Only YOU can decide!

This epic Tag Team Tournament of Time will go for four weeks. Vote for your winning team and we'll post the results on the following Monday. Voting for the first round will end at 11:59 pm CT on Thursday, January 26th.

7sixty Games Visits FUNimation

The crew over at 7sixty stopped by the office yesterday to show off their latest game, Phantom Breaker. 7sixty signed a deal with Japanese developer 5pb to bring the cult fighting game to North America in early 2012. Developed for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®, Phantom Breaker takes its cue from classic 2D brawlers.

7sixty is preparing a very special edition version of the game for North America that will only be available in limited numbers. The special edition will include a mini strategy guide featuring top tips for each fighters along with stunning concept artwork by renowned Japanese manga artist Hiro Suzuhira, a desk calendar featuring characters from the game and two double-sided posters. We got an advance look at the game, which we played on an Xbox development kit. Of course, we had to play as Rimi from Chaos;HEAd and Kurisu from Steins;Gate. Check out these gorgeous screenshots from the game.

Phantom Breaker tells the story of a mysterious Japanese fighting tournament organized by a shady character called Phantom, each combatant must take on a range of increasingly powerful foes with the winner gaining the opportunity to grant any wish they desire. Players can choose from a range of gorgeous girls (and a couple of guys) before opting for a quick or hard fighting style, which favor super-fast combos or stronger defense. Through well-timed attacks or blocks, the player can charge their Overdrive bar, which can be unleashed to perform speedier attacks or temporarily increase defense.

Dragon Ball GT on Nicktoons

Dragon Ball GT is coming to Nicktoons on January 16th at 7pm ET! Nicktoons will be starting with Episode 1 and running the first 5 episodes back-to-back with the title sequences and end credits removed as a special "movie" event. From there, Nicktoons will premiere two episodes per week (on Wednesdays and Thursdays) starting January 18th at 8pm ET.

Then on February 23rd they're going to slow it down to the scheduled broadcast of one episode per week on Thursdays at 8pm.

Tomoki’s life was normal until a wish-granting angelic android named Ikaros fell from the sky and started calling him master! Of course, thanks to his raging teenage hormones, most of Tomoki’s wishes have something to do with panties. And that makes things pretty complicated, because one simple wish can lead to a rampaging robot made out of frilly undergarments. One tiny wish can turn bloomers into bombs capable of blowing up entire neighborhoods! If Tomoki doesn’t learn to control his impulses around Ikaros, and be more careful with his wishes, the chaos will only get crazier. Luckily, even with such a dirty mind, Tomoki’s heart is in the right place. His hands, however, are a completely different story.

Hetalia Holiday Events from Himaruya

Fans of Hetalia might already know this. The creator of Hetalia, Hidekaz Himaruya, runs a blog where new Hetalia manga strips are posted (in Japanese). On occasion, he even posts about some of the Hetalia goodies that are available here, like this adorable Kuma Hat (modeled by Canada in the picture).

Sometimes, on holidays, Himaruya likes to post various new manga strips and character art. Click on this link to see this year's Christmas event (in Japanese). Yes, it's on Geocities. Apparently, that's still a thing in Japan.

The strips get posted at certain times, so check the site again for updates. There might even be a New Year's post, so keep an eye out for new stuff.

Los Angeles Red Carpet Premiere of its release of "Fullmetal Alchemist:The Sacred Star of Milos"
on Friday January 20, 2012 at 8:00pm.

FLOWER MOUND, TX- (12/26/11) FUNimation Entertainment in conjunction with Aniplex Inc. and Eleven Arts Inc. announced that its animated feature film "Fullmetal Alchemist:The Sacred Star of Milos", produced by BONES, will be presented at a red carpet premiere at the Downtown Independent Theater in Los Angeles, CA on Friday January 20, 2012. The red carpet will begin at 8:00pm, screening at 9:00pm followed by Q & A.
