This was a great series, but I am infuriated with the ending. So much so that I'm officially hating animes because they end great stories prematurely or leave an opening for a sequel that they never start. I do have one question about the ending...

Did Reiji get shot at the end? It appears the man on the horse-drawn buggy shot him, but Eren turned around, and the next thing I see is her just laying in the grass, did she not notice him fall over? Did she not care anymore after she had found her home?
Reiji was the intended target and yes, he was shot. As to the other part, I am not sure. Since the anime was based on the game, you'd have to refer to the game for your answer (it has several different endings).
Well, this series had a great art style, incredible English VA's imo, and it was just too short. I really enjoyed "Blood+" and it had a similar ending, too bad FUNi didn't work on the English version, because they kind of ruined a lot of it, even though it was good. The thing is, "Blood+" came to it's conclusion, they are working on a "Blood-C" Now, maybe this will continue from it's ending. (Blood+ is related to Blood:The Last Vampire though the story is completely unrelated besides the main character name"
So, there could easily be a Phantom 2, and It could honestly be great.

It would be awesome to see Eren train Mio, who was waiting on Reiji to come back, and lead a major strike on Inferno for killing Reiji.
Lol, just let me write the story, I could easily do much better than these lonely Japanese authors with their depressing endings.
I really enjoyed this series as well but those last couple episodes were rough. It got pretty depressing at the end. The story line was one of the best I've seen though and all the characters were great. Thanks for the recommendation Raven!
Definitely one of those Animes that slips under the radar of the general viewership even though it is a good series. Greatly enjoyed the story, the animation was pretty impressive overall. True the ending was unclear but I felt the way it ended was confluent with the general flow of the rest of the anime.

And while I myself felt depressed they died (especially after they were getting you ready for them to live) I finally decided that they were prepared for it and maybe even wanted it that way.
im glad to see someone that is interested in phantom. everytime i talk about phamtom they've never seen or heard of it

It was an amazing anime. It ended perfectly for me considering i hated erin's master and cal died.
It's a good series. I felt as though the ending was a little unclear but other than that it was a great anime.
