Why is Chopper on Collection 4's cover?

I thought the logic behind the covers was to go in order of the Straw Hat's joining. Which would mean it would be: Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, (possibly Vivi,) Chopper,

Spoiler: Highlight to view
Robin, Franky and then Brook.

So I don't understand why Chopper is next. What do you guys think?

Not trying to be THAT guy, but didn't Nami technically join after Usopp and Sanji? I could be wrong, but I don't feel like she really joined the Straw Hat's until after Arlong was defeated.

However, I do most definitely agree that Chopper being featured on Collection 4 is odd. It definitely should have at least been Usopp.

Nah, she joined, and became friends, which is why when she LEFT the crew and UNJOINED, it was so difficult for her.

Re: Why is Chopper on Collection 4's cover?

I have just one possible hypothesis. I think it's perhaps the episodes featured in the collection involve Chopper a bit more. I know this probably sounds silly but that's my guess. And who knows Vivi will probably be on the next collection since she has her own Jolly Roger that can place on the top right corner and the next set of episodes after this collection will likely be mostly of Alabasta episodes.

What I'm also wondering supposedly when FUNimation gets to a point in episode collections, if they run out of Straw Hat members, who will they put on the covers? Shanks? Ace? Buggy? Just another thought.

@CTLmusic don't worry I was "that guy" too

Yeah Usopp got the shaft on this one. And he is my favorite character.i mean without him Nami wouldn't be able to fight!
I hope Vivi gets one too.

Also poor Sanji first his Wanted Poster and now no Collection box cover, sad.

Your hypothesis is correct as Chopper's introduction and backstory are contained in Collection Four's Episodes 79 to 91 (with 103 being the last episode where they have been in Alabasta for a pretty long while and even left Ace). Not that he appears in from the get go.

Perhaps it would have been better if FUNimation placed two (or more) of the crew members (perhaps even some villains) on each Collection. Like say...

Collection 1 (Episodes 1-26) - Luffy and Zoro featured on the cover - Major moments include Luffy's backstory episode and Zoro's backstory episode not to mention Zoro's duel with Mihawk which marks his character mentally and physically for hundreds of episodes to come.

And so on...

Anyway, it would be impossible to pace between the openings which come too early or simply show heroes as villains as that is how they were 50 episodes ago with boxsets which have multiple (or worse separate) arcs and sagas with different moods.

As for whether what they could do after they run through all of the crew members, especially as the big slowdown comes with Chopper and Robin... They will have to create situational ones again like the Voyages which feature villains and companions along with members...

Japan as their releases tend to have few episodes a release tend to be better at pacing this.
Look here: http://onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/DVD_Releases
Within 11 releases (44 Episodes) Japan's DVD releases give spotlight to Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Mihawk, Don Krieg + Gin, Zeff + Sanji as a Child, Arlong + Nami as a child, Genzo (and the windmill) + Nojiko, Bellemere and her daughters. Along with countless pirate flags, locales and objects such as windmills and oranges which may be a core part of the characters (or characters I can't remember the name of).

They would probably start doing duo covers when they run out of single Straw Hats to use.

I was wondering this a while back, but I didn't really mind, I like the covers anyway, it's the content inside I want pirate

Since Chopper is a cute animal, common sense would say that FUNi are trying to gets kids to notice it in store and annoy their parents to buy it.
