As far as the running conversation goes though, the only movies that I would be interested in are the ones that have canon continuity ties to the main series.
So in other words none of the movies? None of them are meant to tie in to the series, they're all separate filler adventures, even Strong World.

I don't know who told you that lie, but shows like DBZKai and Fullmetal Alchemist are way more successful for FUNi. I'm not saying OP is a failure but it's definitely selling lower in comparison.
The concern I have with statements like this is that it's not a good comparison because it's not being properly weighted. DBZ Kai and FMA both have broadcasts here in the US. Currently running broadcasts. One Piece does not. When this factor is weighted in to the numbers, is it still classified as a bad or mediocre (or basically, anything but good) seller, even in comparison?
It's easy to compare raw sales numbers and conclude that they are better sellers, but this would be a bad, very bad, methodology. There are far too many things that would need to be considered, such as the influence of a broadcast, cost of licensing, merchandising sales figures, etc.
That's why I'm so keen on an official source stating how and what One Piece is for FUNimation, because an official source is likely going to take factors such as this into consideration.
Re: FUNimation has more One Piece (Water Seven Arc)
He may have meant movies 8 and 9, as movie 8 is an Arabasta summary and movie 9 a re-imagining. Strictly speaking, movie 10 isn't cannon but because of Oda's involvement you'll get people who think of it that way. Some movies can fit into the 'cannon storyline' better than others. Anyway, I would like to see more movies dubbed but I'm more concerned with the actual series. I don't think it's selling terribly over here, but at the same time I have a hard time seeing them dub the whole series. We're still more than 300 episodes behind the Japanese broadcast and many speculate the show will reach as many as a 1,000 episodes before it's all over. One Piece will need to maintain strong, consistent sales for years to come or we'll have another Case Closed. I'm not saying it's so bad that FUNimation is on the verge of dropping it now, but it's current performance isn't very promising for a 500+ episode series with no end in sight. I'm not trying to be all gloom and doom here, hell it's probably doing better than I make it sound like. But you still have to wonder. If they could put it on TV I think that would help a lot. As it stands now, the franchise has little to no real promotion. People still see the DVDs and think of that cheesy pirate cartoon with water gun fights that got cancelled years ago.

Yeah, but these companies rarely(if ever) release their sales figures. And when a fan asks them how well it's doing, they tell them what they want to hear. I've only seen FUNimation and other such companies admit to poor-to-mediocre sales after they've already been cancelled. FUNi reps were still saying One Piece was doing fine(even good) on Cartoon Network--and then the fans at that convention informed them it was cancelled...had been for a week. Though official records may be useful, official statements often are not.
Re: FUNimation has more One Piece (Water Seven Arc)
I hope this show never gets cancelled! It is such a great anime. I wanna see it dubbed to the end of the series. I also would like to see the movies dubbed too. Why is this show not selling well? I checked amazon.com and they have 194 reviews of Dragon Ball Z and One Piece in only in the 50's of reviews for their firts season or voyage. I think that shows that One piece is not selling as well as other long running animes right? I don't get why not because it's the best long running anime currently out.
Re: FUNimation has more One Piece (Water Seven Arc)
I believe it boils down to 4kids. They seriously butchered the series just because Fox required certain censors and the FCC required theirs. One Piece has a loyal fanbase here in the US but the real challenge is trying to get new fans. I have trouble up here in Wisconsin.
I'm actually the only One Piece cosplayer most of time. I'm the only Luffy. I have encountered a few more up here in Madison's Geek Kon and Stevens Point's Daisho Con. But ultimately One Piece is very overlooked.
I remember on Gaia I was in a Anime guild and I requested a sub forum for One Piece and I rejected when Naruto and Bleach got theirs. I was rejected because she didn't watch the series and knows nothing.
So overall the issue is that One Piece got a real bad rep here thanks to 4kids and now it's hard to sway a crowd that only knows 4kids antics like replacing all guns with slingshots and water guns and calling the Devil Fruits as Cursed Fruits. And also that annoying Zolo instead of Zoro dub(which Shonen Jump here in the US still does). If demand for the FUNimation Channel increases or if Nicktoons perhaps gets One Piece to air simultaneous to DBZ Kai then maybe we might see the change.
Re: FUNimation has more One Piece (Water Seven Arc)
It's not a guaruntee that One Piece would've been a hit either way, but 4K!Ds really did decide its fate. Their butchered dub aired on TV for years, it left a lasting impression. FUNimation's dub only aired for a few months, and it too was censored, toned down, and kept the 4K!Ds naming schemes for consistency purposes.

Eh, it wasn't just that. That kind of censorship is a given for any 4K!Ds dub. The music replacement, cheesy dialog, names changes, and Americanization is just their style. They made Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon successful with this formula and Toei trusted them to do the same with One Piece. Of course, they took the butchering to a new extreme with One Piece, with laughable performances, drastic story modifications, innumerable name & terminology changes, and literally non-stop background noise.
FUNimation didn't stand a chance of changing its mainstream reception. If anything, FUNi's TV dub only disoriented the small fanbase 4K!Ds had created. After 105 episodes, completely new voices and music out of nowhere must have been a bit much. The small online fanbase that actually knew what was going on wasn't enough to carry the show. After years of not airing on any channel; however, I would like to see how well the FUNi dub would fare on a popular kids network from the beginning with light censorship and good promotion. That's what this show needs, in my opinion. If after that it still doesn't pull in high ratings and sell more DVDs then nothing can be done for it.
Re: FUNimation has more One Piece (Water Seven Arc)
Well either way I think if they got on Nicktoons and aired in a block schedule with DBZ Kai then it probably work out a bit better. Nicktoons seems to be the new Toonami since Adult Swim kind of said to hell with Anime and Cartoon Network in general is done with that stuff except for like Pokemon and Bakugon.

I guess this is true considering there are people out there who think 4kids dubs One Piece still.

Agreed. There are those who'll only see the 4Kids version due to it being their first impression.
*sigh*
