Re: FUNimation has more One Piece (Water Seven Arc)

BR....is redundant. Yeah, I said that. nervous

Honestly, DVD + High Definition Multimedia Interface was and is well and good enough.

I really do think Blu Ray is pointless milking for visual eye-candy. [No offense to BR fans]

But that being said, I am hoping that they license more. This cluster stops just short of Enies Lobby.

Well, I need to catch up on it, so hopefully, I'll have time to do so.

Like I said, HD-DVD isn't a thing anymore. It really doesn't matter whether or not you happen to not care for it, because the DVD versions are still going to be there to buy The fact of the matter is that people are all about Blu-Ray and I'm positive plenty of them would've held off on purchasing Season 4 if FUNi couldn't get those rights.

Personally, all I cared about was the widescreen, which we have. FUNi can only purchase more if people buy the sets. There was no way OP was successful enough for them to buy 118 episodes (W7 and EL) in one go.

If more people were buying it and it was a bigger success, then maybe they could've done that.

The HD-DVD format is dead, but I wasn't talking about that.

I do agree that they did license a sizable cluster for the next release. We know that Funimation licenses in clusters and, especially considering they have a lot on their plate, this is satisfactory.

Well the DVD player I use upscales to 1080 and I hear that Blu ray only matters if the screen is above 32inch

and I agree with Maron buy more and FUNi can pay Toei's ransom for more seasons for North American fans.

At long last my dream-come-true! I can't WAIT to hear the Water 7 cast have English voices, and I'm especially looking forward to hearing Franky in English. I hope Patrick Seitz reprises his role...

Bob Carter as Blueno and Aokiji, too. Also, everyone else in Unlimited Adventure...

Including Andrew Chandler as Paulie, Kent Williams as Spandam, Jerry Jewell as Kaku, and Jason Liebrecht as Rob Lucci!

I'm not sure but if I have a guess it would be in Voyages probably. Collections are actually 2 sets of voyage discs bundled in one. So Collection 1 is Season 1 but both Voyage 1 and 2. So to actually increase their sales on dvds, voyages would be better for business strategy.

This all just a guess. I'm not 100% accurate on this.

Funimation is saying that they're unsure about who will return but I'm pretty sure it's a safe bet that all the male straw hats will return considering they're all currently working on dragon ball z kai. Nami and Robin are who I'm not so sure about.

I highly doubt that Luci Christian will not return.

That is utter... cocknanney... People who say Blu-ray isn't a big improvement, or that it only matters above a certain screen size are... not smart individuals. When video is encoded at low bitrates, you get artificating, which makes any worthwhile fast moving action scene (of which there are plenty in One Piece) look like crap.

DVD's are on average encoded at 5-8 mbs, where as a decent blu-ray will go anywhere from 15 - 40mbs. My Japanese Blu-ray of One Piece Strong World is encoded at breathtaking 40mbs... Aside from that, you see less aliasing and greater fine detail. Less color banding etc... That and the colors themselves look unbelievably crisp a good disc.

Blu-ray is a whole other level, especially if the care is put into making it a good disc. Plus none of that is even considering the lossless audio tracks Blu-ray affords.
