As the title says, what are your favourite songs/tunes from anime? Can be from films or series intro's, fight music, sad music etc what ever really so share away as I'd be really interested to see what others pick!
At the moment I've got this little number called Heart of Madness from Fist of The North Star stuck in my head. It's so eighties but so were the types of anime that I was first introduced to.

I can't say it's my complete favorite because there quite a lot of good ones but the 1st opening of Death Note is one of mine.
"When you truly care about someone, you don't need any specific reasons to justify your feelings. If you don't know why you feel the way you do, then you can't lose that which causes you to care."
In no particular order:
"My Soul, Your Beats!" - Lia
"Hare Hare Yukai" - Aya Hirano
"Bamboo Beat" - Ryou Hirohashi
"Kuusou Mesorogiwi" - Yousei Teikoku
"Hacking to the Gate" - Kanaka Itou
"Scarlet Ballet" - May'n
"Ride on Shooting Star" - The Pillows
"Tsukiakari" - Rie Fu
"Tank!" - Yoko Kanno
As far as anime soundtracks go, I would say the late Nujabes is my favorite from Samurai Champloo. Also, Girls Dead Monster is the best all-girl band ever.
(topic belongs in the Music forum, btw)
If we're talking about the BGM from a series (and not just the opening/closing songs) I'd say my top pick for best OST is gotta be the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchises (including the movies.) Shirō Sagisu (who also composes the bgm in Bleach) made some incredible pieces in this franchise. I'd highly recommend getting the S2 Works soundtrack which is a complete collection of the music from Eva and listening for yourself.
Check out Happy Famiree Productions: Home of the GenshiGrads!

As long as you remember Her, you are not alone.
As mentioned up top, from Angel Beats!, "My Soul, Your Beats!" - Lia
And from Gunslinger Girl, "The Light Before We Land" - The Delgados
@Soundmonkey44 - the Gunsmith Cats opening sounds like one of those shows you'd have seen in the 70's, like Starsky and Hutch or one of those type cop shows.
I'm right behind you...
I don't think there's been a song Yoko Kanno's composed that I didn't like, or at least appreciate.
I think the best anime song I've heard is the ending to the new Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. ^I don't know who this Yes is (must be a new band), but I look forward to hearing more from them in the future.^
Good Choices, but here are some more blasts from the past (you young'ns don;t know what you missed
)
AD Police Files - Dead End City

Well for starters....
The entire Cowboy Bebop soundtrack. Favorite out of this soundtrack is the opening Tank.
Nujabes was super Epic, I really loved aurorian(I know I spelled it wrong) dance. Even though he only remade it.
The first opening of Onepiece(Japanes and english versions).
There are some more but I can't remember the names. Guess I'll finish when I find out.
よし!
