Star Wars

So, here, go ahead, bring up anything you want to Star Wars, the movies, Clone Wars series, toys, books, comics etc.

Anyways, I have decided to make a post of this because the blog function here doesn't seem to be working properly. This is the catylist for me displaying the pictures in this thread, rather than the blog area.

So in early January of 2013, we went to the Star Wars Identities exhibit here in Edmonton; apparently, this was the first stop of the exhibit, which was very nice because we don't really get too many cool things here like this. Well, there's the anime con we have once a year, but I'm assuming it's very small in comparison to some of the other ones in the states. As for the exhibit, the company I work for was sponsoring the event so I was able to get coupons for my family and I to go. It was a fun time and a good way to spend an afternoon; here are some pictures from the day.

This last picture here is of the character I created; at this exhibit, you create your own character and go through various stations and displays, which build that character. At the end, you get to see your character on display, I called mine Eatmore.

Re: Star Wars

Awesome pics there Neon! I remember when I was a kid and my dad took me to see Star Wars Episode I I LOVED IT1 *given years later I found out what a bad reputation a certain Gungan had online and the negativity recived by the prequels in general, but EPI will always have a special place in my heart none the less!*

But yeah I was a HUGE Starwars fan between the ages of 7-15, afterwards though I kind of had a falling out, I still respect the franchise, but just feel certain aspects of it have lost their way. I do hope though Disney will treat it kindly, I know they have alot of plans, I just hope they are good ones!

Also I'm a huge fan of General Grevious & the Droid Army! *Thus the reason I hate hate HATE the CGI clone-wars, they fladnerized & bastardized Greivouses character! He's a B.A. Jedi killer! Not some chump!

THIS IS GREVIOUS!

That thing in the CGI toon.... is but a pale imitation!

But ahh all ranting aside, glad we finally have a proper Star Wars thread up, now we can talk about all the Star Wars news that will no doubt come from the recent Disney Lucasfilms buy-out!

That is my only issue with Revenge of the Sith and the Clone Wars series; they turned Greivous into a "coward" villian instead of the way he was portrayed on that first clone wars cartoon. Just charged straight into battle, he took out, what? 5 or 6 Jedi? Well, killed a couple, the others he injured, then he wielded a lightsaber with his foot. He seemed almost indestructable, unstoppable, just the perfect villain for Star Wars Jedi.

I think it was great Obi Wan beat him, but they didn't go the distance in terms of tapping into the potential of that fight. that could've been amazing, but, I suppose they didn't want to outdo the two climactic duels (Yoda vs Palpatine, and Obiwan vs Vader) so early in the movie, but I have a solution for that; unleash the potential of the Grievous/Obi Wan duel, and make the last two battles greater.

But I still very much enjoy the CGI clone wars series, I can say though, I'm not too fond of the direction they took with Darth Maul's character, I'm just saying, because he was revived with some hocus pocus, he could've had his normal legs back. Just my opinion.

I still liked all the Star Wars movies though, even the prequels, I have some small issues, but nothing that can make me say George Lucas betrayed the series - except for that change he did to Darth Vader during the pivotal Emperor attempts to fry Luke scene on Return of the Jedi, all I can say to Lucas about that is: "NNNNNNNNOOOOOO!!!!!"

JarJar did get annoying, but he didn't have enough screen time to get to me - I was more distracted by Liam Neeson, Natalie Portman and Ewan Macgregor and all the other material that was going on.

But that original trilogy, that will always have a special place in my heart, there will never be, even if they try, anyone as great as Harrison Ford as Han Solo, ever. I remember being a little kid and seeing Star Wars on VHS when it first came out, my cousins had all the old toys, we had a few, my brother had the ATAT walker and Millenium Falcon, I had Boba Fett, but, by the time I was old enough to play with cool toys, no longer just tonka trucks, GIJOE and Transformers had surfaced, oh and GOBOTS - man, what a horrible show, Gobotron, f&ck sake. Fisher Price circus train, HEman Clone and Teela figure, for Christmas in severly early childhood, wow, memory flood. Look what you did.

Yeah, Poor Grevious got gipped.

And I agree, Han Solo is a pretty awesome Guy, Harrison ford *like with Indie* was born for that role! And yeah the original trilogy will always be the best. And I agree people online over emphasize the Jar Jar Binks hate, poor guy, all he did was play occasional comedy relief.

That original trilogy was amazing, but I feel the new ones - episodes 1 - 3 have received a lot of undeserved hate, they were still good, very good, the key word here though is, different. People expected a complete rehash of the original series, thus they were disappointed. I very much enjoyed the new series, but I would say my favorite of those was Revenge of the Sith, aside from the anticlimactic Greivous battle (and what they did to Geivous overall), it was still great. I remember being a little kid and thinking, why doesn't Yoda go and fight the Emperor?

Revenge of the Sith answered that. Now don't get me wrong, I do have some issues with the new movies, but they are not story issues, it more how certain scenes were done, I feel George Lucas got carried away with the CG animation, especially on Clone Wars - it was almost as if they were trying to show up Lord of the Rings (which came out shortly before Clone Wars).

Overall they were some solid movies and I do look forward to the new direction the movies will take for two reasons:

1. Under new management, I'm curious to see how it will be done, yes, George Lucas is still involved, but he's not the be all and end all, if they disagree with something he says, too bad for him basically.

2. I wonder what the story will be, I'm curious as to what will happen; Jedi comes back into fruition? Boba Fett's return? Palpatine's clone? The real Palpatine?(maybe the one we saw in Return of the Jedi was a clone - Palpatine is no fool, perhaps he counted on Vader's betrayal) A new Sith Uprising? A battle of Sith and Jedi on an Epic scale? Han Solo? (There are some rumors Harrison Ford maybe reprising his role, but as a father and husband, but we'll see). There are so many possiblities.

And as for other Star Wars, the Clone Wars show I am really looking forward to season 5 coming on bluray, I saw on the trailer how Palpatine fights Maul and Savage.

Re: Star Wars

Yeah it'll be interesting to see how the upcoming Disney helmed flicks play-out. And speaking of Clone-Wars, that reminds me, looks like CN won't be showing Season 6 of Clone-Wars, Disney will probably move it to DisneyXD I bet.

Re: Star Wars

Thanks for showing us those gallery photos! Very cool!

Is it weird that the only aspect of the Star Wars fandom I'm actually fond/nostalgic of is the Ewoks? Now I don't just mean their role from Return of the Jedi, but anyone here ever see/remember the 2 made-for-TV-movies on the Ewoks? (Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure & Ewoks: The Battle for Endor). I grew up with these 2 films being my favorites and hope I'm not alone of this lol. (There was also an Ewoks cartoon, but, yeah, I'm gonna stick with just the live action version canon lol)

Re: Star Wars

Ewoks, always will have a degree of sentiment for them - there were none on the prequels, not even an ewok Jedi - which you can make at the Star Wars Identities if you want, my sister made hers an ewok.

I did like the cartoon and it was alway sfollowed by Droids cartoon, on Sunday mornings when I was a kid. I never did get to see the movies, to be honest, I didn't even know there were movies for them until recently.
