Question 1: (Monday)
Let's have another awesome week a head of us with today's question of the day, what is your favorite anime, why is it your favorite anime?

Rurouni Kenshin for me. Simply put, it just has that perfect combination of action and romance. It's like watching a tale of honor and chivalry, but in a Japanese setting. I haven't been able to fully read Nobuhiro Watsuki's manga version, but after the first volume it gave me a much better idea of the story.

As much as I've come to love more recent anime that I've picked up on, nothing can surpass that magical feeling I had watching that wandering rurouni using his weapon as a tool of repentance in a brand new era - compared to the formiddable and scheming enemies trying to bring back the days of chaos - that's what won me over.

Re: Question of the Day!

For this one it is definetly Umineko No Naku Koro Ni. This show is a sequal to Higurashi but it really fixes many of the holes Higurashi had in it. I love that all the characters are basically adults. We do have Maria but really when your that psychotic your hardly a kid,

From there we get adult issues such as being finacially ruined or falling in love with a woman your parents hate. There are few shows where I find myself HATING characters but Umineko accomplished it. Most of the Ushiromiya's could be killed by Beatrice over and over again and all I would want to do is cheer her on.

Then we get the witches.. nearly all powerful beings that stave off boredom by challenging each other to elaborate mental puzzle games. Gotta love it. All the power in the world and they are gamers, RPGers nearly.

Lastly we have Ange Ushiromiya... all I can do here is, umm nothing I cant do nothing fitting cause this is a family site LOL.

Re: Question of the Day!

My favorite anime would have to be Code Geass! I chose Code Geass because of everything it has to offer. From Mecha, action, romance, strategy, gore, etc.

I am a huge mecha fan, I am a huge fan of Gundam and always have been, and Gurren Lagann. Code Geass is just the anime that keeps me on the end of my seat. I can't tell you how angry I would be when the 2 episodes would be done every Saturday. I just hated waiting every week to see what happened next. I am glad I waited for such an awesome anime cause now it is my favorite.

Why it's my favorite, I love the characters, I love the story plot, and I love the strategy that Zero uses. The only thing I disliked about the anime is that it ended leaving tons of questions! I still believe there will be a another season with Zero!!

All Hail Lelouch!!!

I still do buy my titles. I often need to have the titles on hand to use for the anime club or just looking pretty on my shelf.

Re: Question of the Day!

I stick with physical copies when I buy my anime. I've got to be able to hold it in my hands and place it on my shelves, I'm a collector through and through. Plus, if I buy digital copies, how am I supposed to enjoy beautiful box art or cool little extras you get with the purchase?

I get most of my anime through Amazon, but I'll check out Rightstuf to see what kinds of little extras I can get with a purchase. My last resort is usually eBay, I'll only head there if I'm searching for a hard to find tittle. I don't tend to head to any stores since I can usually find what I want cheaper online anyway, though I have purchased 2 or 3 random titles when walking through Best Buy over the years.

Where do you buy your anime? Do you download digital copies or buy physical copies?

I've always bought anime from rightstuf. I'm not too fond of downloading digital copies, because it just doesn't have the same gratifying feeling as having an actual collection of all your favorite shows.

Question 4:  (Thursday)
What got you into watching anime? Was it a friend, tv, Internet, etc?

Well television definitely had a huge influence back in the days of the original Pokemon and Yugioh, lol. I guess another part of it was my older brother; he's the one who got me into Dragonball Z when I became a teenager. But as far as the last year goes, the internet (forums, streaming videos, etc.) definitely has had a significant effect on me. Because of it, I'm watching a lot more shows now than I ever would have imagined.

Question 4: I'm sure if more people answer this question they'll have a similair answer to mine. What got me into anime: Dragon Ball Z. That and toonami in general and pokemon.
However, those weren't the first series I watched, no my the earliest exposure I remember having with anime was My Neighbor Totoro, and that is probably one of the best starts the anime you can ask for

What anime caught you offguard? In other words, was it something you weren't expecting to be good and now it's one of your favorites?

For me, it was Case Closed. I started watching it when I was on a rampage of anime watching when I was first converted "otaku". I read the premise on wikipedia and was not impressed. It seemed rather... different and I wasn't willing to start it up. However, I was bored one day and decided to watch an episode. (I know what you're thinking and yes it was on an illegal site... I wasn't gonna buy it if I didn't like it!) I was hooked! I don't know even know why, because up until then I told myself constantly I didn't like mysteries (i.e mystery novels and such). However, this show just... reeled me in! Currently I own all ze DVDs~ and hoping for more movies. smile

(and I'm not one of those annoying people that constantly begs FUNi on their facebook to license more Case Closed)

Re: Question of the Day!

The anime that caught me off guard was [C] I mean it's a series that made economics intersting to watch. But I think it was ep 8 that really started throwing me for a loop

Spoiler: Highlight to view
just seeing things and people vanish from existance was really disturbing to watch. It's honestly one of the few things I've seen in anime that really freaked me out.

that was when I really this series was playing hardball and the viewers had to deal.
