Other than Dash's job, if you'd even call it that, Rarity runs a clothing store, and Apple Jack seems to run the family farm. Oh yeah, and Pinkie Pie, of all ponies, works in the bakery.
@David: I imageine Fluttershy's parents are probably in the same line of work as her, somthing to do with animals. maybe a vet...do they have vets in equestria? And I could see Dash's parents being daredevils themselves....maybe police, i dunno.
Anywho for the sake of keeping the conversation going, what are everyones favorite episodes in the series? Mine would be...
Episode #4: Applebuck Season: The best AJ centric episode IMPO, it's always fun to see characters be stubborn and bite off more then they can chew.
Epsiode #5 Griffion The Brush off: I like this episode for many reasons the Pepelepew style chase seen between rainbow & pinkie at the start, and because it introduces us to yet another species, the Griffon, which seem to be foul tempered creatrues (at least gilda was) and i like the dynamic between Pinkie & dash.
Episode #16: Sonic RainBoom: Probably the best Dash Centric episode. While also having some fun moments with Fluttershy (like Dash teaching her how to cheer) and Rarity (her vanity strikes yet again lol.)
Episode #20: A Dog & Pony show: Raritys whining should be a ringtone lol. Also love spike's lil daydream about saving her from the daimond dogs, poor lil guys got it bad don't he.
Episode #25: Party of one: This episode made me like Pinkie Pie alot more, and also fear her. I've kind of seen Pinkie as an airhead, but this ep proves she's not she is indeed aware of everything around here, infact I would say she's a mad genius, lol. I also love how this lets us see a darker side of the character after her "Inner party pops" so to speak. Pinkie Pie...she's Bi-WINNING! lol. I also like the message of this episode, its never good to make your friends feel ignored or unwanted (ecspecially if they are bi-polar, lol)
and would like to give a shout out to episode #26 because FLUTTERRAGE made that ep fun.

also what do you want to see more of in season 2? I want to see more crazy ponies of course, and maybe actually have a story focusing on characters outside the main cast, like Celestia's sister Luna, or fan favorite background char Derpy Hooves.
Party of One is probably my favorite episode. The ending was predictable, but it was still great. At first, I thought that the episode was going to show a really depressed side of Pinkie Pie and would make me sad, but instead of being depressed she just went insane!
Pinkie Pie in this episode made me think of me. That probably sounds weird, but yeah... Taking everything personally, being incredibly paranoid, and carefully keeping an eye on everything your friends do to make sure they aren't stabbing your back. Yup, that's me!
Anyway, I also really liked the Griffon one as well. Particularly the very beginning with Pinkie Pie being herself and kind of bothering Rainbow Dash.

As for favorite episodes... can't really say as i have one, I like most all of them equally. I have my favorite moments, and scenes.
Fluttershy's Cheer, Rainbow Dash's "Oh My Gosh", Pinky Pie's Twitching, and Fluttershy singing Pinkie's "Evil Enchantress" song.
Most of the episodes I don't like involve Rarity. But then, she's tolerable most of the time, and then down right grates on my nerves at others.
Also as a point of interest to the collectors, in response to a letter/e-mail that a fan sent to Hasbro, the Blind Bag G4 ponies will be coming to the US soon.
I'm a little late watching this show. I'm about thirteen episodes into the first season, but it's really fun, probably the most fun I've had watching American cartoons in a while, and I never really liked MLP before. The animation is nice and the stories are pure fun, I haven't been bored with it yet.
I have to say that Applejack and Rainbow Dash are my favorite characters. Twilight's okay I guess and Fluttershy is sweet, but I don't really like Pinkie Pie or Rarity at the moment, as they tend to grate on my nerves a little. A good example of Rarity annoying me would be the slumber party episode.
As for favorite episodes, I liked the Applebuck Season one and the one with Zecura and the blue flowers. Oh and the one where Applejack and Dash had that competition to decide which of them was the better athlete.
And I'm with you Sound, what happened with Luna?! She was in the first two episodes but they haven't even mentioned her since. Zecura's kind of fallen out of the show as well and I thought she could have been an interesting side character.

I couldn't stand Rarity's whining... in fact it made me want to load a shotgun with un-popped popcorn, and blast myself in the armpit.
Maybe I'll like her more on the second go around, but it isn't looking too hopeful. Though this second time, I am liking Rainbow Dash more and more.

I'm a little late watching this show.
