Re: Merry ChrismaHanukwanzikah!

I think I normally make a Christmas present thread every year, but you know what? Since we've got an official Holidays thread here, it may as well serve for that too. wink

And believe it or not, I got part of my gifts when I got home today, from my aunt. I'm guessing I got it super-early because of the plans for me to play Santa for the kids this year, but hey, it works for me.

So so far, I've gotten -

- Alf: Season Three
- Alf: Season Four
- A bunch of random comics (a Spider-man, a Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, Star Wars: Heir to the Empire, Super Dinosaur, a Star Wars: Clone Wars, an Avatar: The Last Airbender, Shadowhawk II, Geomancer: Guardian of Earth)

So now I've got the entire series of Alf, and some new reading material, woot. smile

Re: Merry ChrismaHanukwanzikah!

During this time of year, my family has started something of a tradition of going to northern New Mexico during Christmastime. It'll be our second year of doing it. We always love to see the decorations on the adobe buildings, the scenery, and the snow. We don't get snow here in South Texas and so we've been traveling there to see it.

On a different note, I've been listening to the SiriusXM Classical Pops Holiday music. It's Christmas carols and music, only it's opera and classical versions of those songs, along with other holiday songs from various modern and historic composers. It reminds me of the middle ages, honestly. Does anybody else listen to this or have any other cool holiday music they listen to?

My family has a few CDs that we listen to in the cars this time of year and we play it in the house on Christmas Eve and Day, but other than that we don't really listen to much holiday music. I do love the more classical versions of the songs myself.

The one Christmas song that makes me tear up every time is The Christmas Shoes. So sad and beautiful at the same time.

I like to listening to my Bing Crosby CD during the Holidays, and my mom plays her Andy Williams Christmas CD while she decorates the house. Also its fun to listen to Holiday themed parody songs of rock-ballads such as THIS

Re: Merry ChrismaHanukwanzikah!

I'm a little jaded from Christmas music - 4 years at Home Depot graveyard shift - Christmas music 8 hours a day for 1 and a half months - 4 years in a row. then the game store - same thing two years, then a furnature place - two years - so I've had my fill of Christmas music, but maybe when I see my family during Christmas week it'll do.

I spoke to my sister today during my break and we decided that when my brother comes out and my other brother and their significant others would go to the Star Wars exibit at the science center - my company is putting it on so I got a crap load of coupons to go. It'll be one of many good activities to do during the holiday season. There's talk of going to Banff the next month, but I may not be able to go because of work - long story with vacation arrangements.

So Christmas will be fun.

I love Trans-Siberian Orchestra, as well. I just bought one of their CD's last week and the songs are really amazing. I like Christmas/Sarajevo 12/24 (the instrumental version).

Merry Christmas everyone. I love this time of year, I really do. I wish, in all seriousness, that everyone could feel the joy I feel at this time, all year 'round.
