Also think of this...if this had gone on at an earlier time in history...or even a different country today, the girl would've actually been sent off to a boarding school or reformatory, kicked out of the house and told to never come back, or the worst of all....ACTUALLY beaten into submission.
I mean....back in the dark ages the girl would've been burned at the stake by the church for being a witch due to her disrespectful behavior aimed at her parents.
