BEN 10 heading to the Big Screen

Joel Silver, the producer behind such franchises as the Matrix trilogy, Lethal Weapon series, Die Hard series, the new Sherlock Holmes series with Robert Downey Jr., will be developing a live action feature film based on Cartoon Networks BEN 10. Joel has stated that he wants to stay true to the original material. They would be recasting the entire cast over the cast of the other made for TV movies released by Cartoon Network in the past as they want to start from the beginning with him at 10 years old. Joel and the other 2 producers see this as a big budgeted, tentpole movie so if it does well we can expect more in the future.

I for one think this is a good idea as I rather enjoy the cartoon. I am also suprised it has taken this long for a big producer to try it, what with how popular BEN 10 is. The big question is could this be another The Last Air Bender and what started out as a good idea fall flat and we only get one film?

I'm pretty excited for this, if they do it right it'll be an awesome film.

While I like some of Joel Silver's movies (Matrix and several others), I am not really sure about this one. I am not totally against the project, but there is one thing that has me thinking: the morphing between alien and human (in terms of Ben's use of the Omnitrix). I suppose I will wait to see a trailer to see if the morphing works.

Ya, but those were straight-to-DvD Cartoon network originals, not big-budget Hollywood adaptations.

As a huge fan of the Ben 10 franchise I am very excited for this movie to go into production, if handled correctly they could essentially have an awesome motion picture on their hands that could propel the Ben 10 franchise and Cartoon Network into a whole new audience, but only if it's handled correctly. The script can't be cheesy, the special effects have to be handled with care, and the actos chosen must fit the roles to a tee for this to happen, with a big name producer tied to this series I fully believe that it could work and I'm so very happy to have heard this news today. I'll be first in line at the movie theater when this is released, seriously. I'm a HUGE fan of the Ben 10 cartoons and the last live action Ben 10 flick that CN aired wasn't bad at all, I'll be looking forward to this with a keen eye.

Well, hopefully it'll be a LITTLE cheesy - it's Ben 10 after all, and the original series that this one would be adapting had some pretty cheesy stuff. But the good kind of cheesy and corny stuff. It has to be handled just so, like you said.

Re: BEN 10 heading to the Big Screen

Hello, I'm new around here. I just wanted to state that I am very glad that they are basing the film upon the original men of action tv series. No offense to Alien Force and Ultimate Alien but i felt that the original Ben 10 had a better plot because after the first two seasons of alien force, the series started to go downhill. I haven't watched an episode lately but I've heard from others that there has been just too many filler episodes sad

Also, I want to add that PLEASE don't make ben say the name of each alien every time he transforms, I never understood the necessity of it since it seemed really stupid.
