The first episode(s) is up on the official site and holy &^%$ is it amazing! Possible Spoilers
It looks absolutely gorgeous and I'm loving the jazz soundtrack. There's a lot of continuity nods to the old series and I actually got a little misty-eyed during the opening narration.
The, what I assume to be, first new party member is a firebender named Mako, which I thought was a really sweet tribute.
I also really like Korra. Her brash, impulsive and sort of tomboyish nature is a stark contrast to most of the waterbenders we saw in the previous series. She's a pretty stark contrast to Aang, too. She's more like a teenage Toph.
The modern setting is also really interesting. The steampunky mechanical designs are neat and the sprawling urban backdrops are beautiful and really hammer in just how much the world of Avatar has changed.
The choice to make Korra a teenager and mostly gloss over the bending training that made up a large part of the first series seems to indicate the main focus of the story will be on the external conflicts of the new, more modern Avatar world. Abandoning the martial conflicts of the first series for social/societal conflicts, this series has a slightly more mature and contemporary feel fitting of an older, though still far from adult, heroine. But it does still retain the goofy Avatar sense of humor.
The voice acting is all excellent. Possibly outshining the original series, especially those early episodes All of the major characters are well-cast, escpecially the first major villain and possibly big bad of the story who is played by the fantastic Steve Blum.
So, the show seems like its going to be incredible. The budget they put into it must have been staggering, because it looks and sounds beautiful. It's looking so far to be a more than worthy successor to what I consider one of the best pieces of western animation ever made.
And since I've spent far too much time analyzing children's cartoons again, I'll take my leave. I might just go watch those episodes again.

I just got done watching the premiere about an hour ago, and man, it was so worth the wait. The creators have certainly not lost their touch at creating an amazing show and universe from the get go. I'm already in love with Korra as a lead, and Bolin is hilarious. I'm even enjoying Tenzin as a straight-man to the chaos around him.
'Promise me your teenage years will be nothing like this!'
'...I will make no such promise.'
HA!
Can't wait to see the next episode as it looks like the you-know-what will already be hitting the fan then.
Watched the hour long premiere, gotta say this defiantly looks like it'll be a good series. I like the characters & world so far, amazing how much the technology of the world has advanced in just what... 50 or so years. And I to couldn't help but lol at the Zuko's Mom troll.
Anywho just glad the series is finally on TV, now I have a reason to watch NICK again, lol.
The new series makes me pleased with western animation style. I thought western animators were getting lazy (adventure time) but seeing this amazing animation it makes me happy.
I just finished the first episode (second one tomorrow), and am very impressed. It looks to be the best kind of sequel, one that keeps the same spirit of the original (in both humor and drama) and adds upon it with experience.
I know Steve Blum's role was mentioned, but who else recognized Carlos Alazaraqui as the anti-Bender protester?
Oh, and the animation is GORGEOUS. Especially during the big action scene. It's as if they were saying "See this? Yeah, this is the budget we have now. "
Sweet, thats only a month away (ok 29 days, but meh why be picky.) Diffidently looking forward to the preimire, heres hoping it does well.
LET ME PLAY FOR YOU, THE SONG OF MY PEOPLE!!!
Looks great and if the site Www.KorraNation.com get's 100,000 likes than we get the premiere early March 24th.
Hope they meet their goal (still not gonna get a Facebook account though. You'll never take me alive you digital devil you! lol.)
But yeah, the more I watch the trailers, the more I look forward to this show. Who knows this may have potential to be even better then the original.
