Working my way through xxxHolic, though I'm slowing down on it since I'm catching up to the last volumes I bought. I'm on 9 now and just picked up 10. Also reading the last volume of Codename Sailor V, and finished Sakuran the other day. All of these are excellent.
Picked this up not expecting to really like it too much, but it's quickly become one of my absolute favorite series. The characters are interesting, each guided by their own beliefs and desires, though plenty of them are ultimately heading for the same goal, if by different means: the Intention of the Abyss or the truth of what happened 100 years ago. The story of the Tragedy of Sablier is revealed bit by bit in a way that urges the reader to keep reading. At the end of volume 3 (I read them in three volume chunks) I had certain suspicions as to the nature of Alice, and I was surprised to find that I wasn't too off the mark, but it wasn't exactly what I had thought either.

I had expected that Alice was once human, but I had not thought that she would have been murdered. My ideas on who killed her keep changing as I read more, as it seems multiple people would've had a motive. And as it is revealed that plenty of characters had ties to the Tragedy, I am more and more curious as to exactly how involved they all were.

I hadn't expected Break's past to be the way it was, and I was shocked to learn the identity of the Intention of the Abyss (along with the fact that not only had he met her before, but she had been the one to take Break's eye and give it Cheshire). It does, however make a lot of sense given how Cheshire was behaving when they were trapped in his house. I was surprised when the Intention changed the past for Break's since I couldn't see why she would bother to help him, because of this I wasn't surprised when it turned out she just changed how things happened, since I had thought she would just force him to do what he promised without giving him what he really wanted.
But yeah, this is a great shonen with good plotting and characters. Highly recommended. But be warned that some parts are a tad dark and things don't immediately make sense. I'd recommened reading the first two or three volumes before deciding if it's for you or not.
