The Boston comic shop Comicopia will host a Sailor Moon release party its store at midnight on Tuesday, September 13.
The event will celebrate Kodansha USA's release of Naoko Takeuchi's Sailor Moon manga and its two-volume prequel Codename: Sailor V through the Kodansha Comics imprint. Kodansha USA is releasing the first volumes of both series on the same day.
The 1991 manga Codename: Sailor V revolves around middle schooler Minako Aino, a magical girl and crime fighter. In the more well-known 1992 Sailor Moon series, Minako Aino is the side character "Sailor V" while Usagi Tsukino ("Bunny" in the previous English-language manga edition and "Serena" in the English version of the television anime adaptation) takes the lead role of the titular Sailor Moon.
The Sailor Moon manga is being condensed into 12 bi-monthly "deluxe-edition" volumes (from its original 18), and two more volumes of short stories have been added. The new edition — with "new cover art, retouched interior art and dialogue along with extensive bonus material from Takeuchi" — is based on the 2003 Japanese re-release of the manga.
Mixx Entertainment (now called Tokyopop) licensed the manga for English release in North America, but the series has been out of print for six years. Codename: Sailor V has never had an official English-language release in North America.
Re: The Sailor Moon & Codename Sailor V Manga Discussion Thread
This manga is going to sell really well because it's Sailormoon! Now, How likely will Kodansha USA release a box set including the 2 Sailor V manga? Have Kodansha release a box set in Japan?

Not that i know of or i would've heard about it at another forum that i check out. They're both at decent prices though so it shouldn't stop you from buying both volumes.

I have volume 2 of SM and CN:SV pre-ordered! Now I have to wait... 13 days until volume 1 of both are released. I shall be getting them a couple of days after. I can't wait 'til they arrive!
Re: The Sailor Moon & Codename Sailor V Manga Discussion Thread
We have only 9 days left!
It's kinda strange how the first four graphic novels were put up for pre-order almost instantly, but we haven't had any other volumes pop up...
Since the release date is pretty close, has RightStuf started shipping these yet? I would imagine some people would get them before they officially come out...
Only a month left! I'm so exited!

And a week before they get released, Kodansha starts promoting them at their website.

Not bad but it would've been nice if they replaced "Returns" with "Debuts" for the Sailor V image.
