Ken Akamatsu has announced that he plans to enter the 3-chapter finale after an upcoming two issue hiatus.
I can't help but feel this news is very sudden. Negima is one of my favorite mangas and I'll certainly miss reading it, but I thank Akamatsu-sensei for his incredibly hard work on it over the years and wish him luck with his other projects.

So Negi's finally going to defeat Lord Vlodamort!? Whopps wrong series. Hmm between this, and Bleach & Naruto being in their final arcs, looks like alot of big name shonen are deciding to wrap things up.

Surprising news but it did feel like it was starting to head toward a resolution. I hope Ken Akamatsu will consider doing some spin-offs though. The large cast is filled with great characters and the world he's created with Negima! is so rich and plot-generating. (And I will personally pledge to by ten copies if he does a Konoka/Setsuna spin-off that's heavy on the Yuri romance. Ten copies. Per volume. That's how much I desire to see this.)
I've loved Negima! from the first chapter and bought other series of his largely because I loved it so much. I just hope he's not being pressured to end it early or anything. I want him to end it his way because so far, he ends series right. (Love Hina had a great ending and so did AI Love You.)

I sincerely hope this is a massive troll because this is just dumb! How the hell can this manga end in 3 chapters?????!
So we're supposed to accept that crappy Magic World Arc final battle aganist the Lifemaker/Nagi as the end of that premise????! That's even worse than Ichigo vs. Aizen in Bleach! At least Aizen will most likely get another chance at a proper final fight.
If Akamatsu really was making a sequel series, he would've announced it at the same time. I'm truly disappointed in Akamatsu!
It had quite the long lifespan...that's for sure.
At least he's taking his time with the ending with the brief hiatus. It isn't something that should be rushed.
