Re: Bleach Manga Discussion [may contain spoilers]

Well usually in stories where friends are being manipulated they struggle with turmoil at striking back at their friends, often leading to some hesitation or mental collapse, perhaps Inoue and Sado will be unable to strike back by their inner resolve.

Re: Bleach Manga Discussion [may contain spoilers]

Chapter's out early.

Ichigo faces Tsukishima, who reveals more to us about the nature of his powers....or he would have had Ginjou not told us first. lol

Meanwhile, Shushugawara joins the fight against Ginjou using his currently unknown Fullbring.

Chad and Orihime help Tsukishima by healing and protecting him from Ichigo, which causes Ichigo to question his judgment and reasoning before turning his enraged sight back on Tsukishima.

Decent chapter overall. Liked the color splash page with the Shinigami and Arrancar characters included.

Re: Bleach Manga Discussion [may contain spoilers]

This is getting ridiculous already!!! Ichigo is really starting to piss me off with his whiny and woose attitude and he is definitely failing as a main protagonist right now.

First, in the very beginning, Ichigo lets Orihime revive Tsukishima's arm! W....T....F!!!!! I seriously facepalmed myself!

Secondly, it was unneccessary for Tsukishima to explain his Fullbring! But Tsukishima defeating Aizen???????????!!!! Wow, I couldn't help burst out in laughter. The biggest load of BS I've ever heard in this series!!!!

And what is with Tsukishima trying to be like Aizen by making epic speeches?! Seriously, get your own characteristics for christ sakes!!!

Ichigo is just being such a whiny baby. What is the freakin big deal that's making this situation so hard for him?! He's been through SO MUCH WORSE than this and yet, he acts like this is the biggest crisis he's ever been in. So freakin retarded! Seriously, does Ichigo not remember anything before this Arc?!

Ichigo needs to get back his set of balls and start fighting instead of whining like a little baby about why this is all happening. Oh and let's not just let Orihime heal the enemy next time! *Rolls Eyes*

Re: Bleach Manga Discussion [may contain spoilers]

^Last time, his friends weren't against him. That's quite the difference.

Compared to that, how powerful his enemy is is irrelevant to him and that's the only thing that's different here. [he'd likely rather face 100 Aizens than even a single of his friends]

Don't forget that the whole thing about Tsukishima being there was only part of his power on their perspectives. He wasn't actually there.

Also, fictional heroes universally allow these things for plot's sake. You can call it PIS, of course, but it's a fact.

Personally, I like that Tsukishima is the manipulative mind game type. Kubo does really good with that villain type and Tsukishima has all the good aspects without being ridiculously powerful.

Tsukishima also got points for having the insight to go for the protagonist's greatest weakness.

The only time I felt Aizen's manipulations were at their highest mind screwing were the two times regarding Momo. [stabbing her after acting all fatherly, but especially letting the Shinigami and Visoreds think they had won before revealing Toshiro skewered her]

Just my personal outlook on the subject. Though I'll argue the first point to the end.

Re: Bleach Manga Discussion [may contain spoilers]

well the problem I'm seeing with Tsukushima's power is that it's baisicly suigetsu. Look it creates the illusion that completly tricks its target into the illusion. I say that since there has to be physical evidence of Tsukushima otherwise his ability wouldn't work. Seriously, I'd be genuinly freaked if Karin or Yuzu pulled out a photo that had Tsukushima in it but it was blank to Ichigo's eyes (a la Deadman Wonderland). But back to subject, his fullbring tricks the senses which is just like Suigetsu's complete hypnosis.

I'm with Sennen on this. I mean if Ichigo took just a moment to explain to his friends "Hey you know that guy can manipulate memories" they'd at least start to doubt him. From what's been seen in just this chapter, Tsukushima has replaced Ichigo as the protagonist in the past arcs. Ok, but Ichigo was still there, meaning that in theory, Ichigo was also a "friend" of Tsukushima. You would think Ichigo just suddenly spazing, screaming "What have you done to my friend, Tsukushima!!!" would raise some flags in Orihime and Chad, especially Orihime since she was Aizen's prisoner. Again these characters have encountered advanced forms of hypnosis and magic before, you would think their loyalties would at least be a little shaken.

Re: Bleach Manga Discussion [may contain spoilers]

Well, not exactly. Book of the End and Kyoka Suigetsu use powers that mainly affect the mind, but that's about it.

Tsukishima's power works by putting himself into other peoples' personal history. Aizen's worked by affecting all senses to choose what they see and otherwise perceive.

For example, much like how Aizen can't make someone he just met think they knew him their whole lives, Tsukishima can't trick people into fighting their allies by shifting their appearance to his like Aizen did in the FKT battle.

It might not be as simple as claiming they're being tricked. They're dealing with a whole new type of mind game this time. Most people would trust their own memories, which adds further complications.

I gotta admit, though, it seems Tsukishima really was just caught off-guard last time. He successfully parried Ichigo's blow this time.

*sigh* I hate when Ichigo's usually fast speed is downplayed. Though I may be thinking more of his Bankai speed than his Fullbring speed, the former of which he doesn't have yet.

Re: Bleach Manga Discussion [may contain spoilers]

Just thought of something, how did Tsukushima place himself so specifically into the memories? Before this chaper I assumed he just vaguely placed himself into various memories (like photoshopping himself) but now it seems like when he stabs someone he can analyze all their memories and specifcally reorder and place himself into any memories he wants. If that's the case then I'd be more concerned, however, Kubo still has to put it on paper.

Re: Bleach Manga Discussion [may contain spoilers]

Man, I remember when this manga was just about Tsukishima going to highschool and fighting hollows...

Seriously, Tsukishima's power is retarded. He literally has the power of retcon. And even with all the (redundant) exposition this chapter, we still have no idea what Tsukishima's actual plan is.

Also, if his ability is to alter people's past I want to know what kind of scenario he could even possibly come up with for beating Aizen. "Hey guys, remember that time that guy with god-mode powers and whose reiatsu could melt people's faces off came to town and I totally helped Ichigo beat him? Good times."

Kubo do you even know what you're doing anymore? hmm

I'd say so.

And honestly, it's only a perspective based one. He doesn't literally go back in time and do the things he's claimed to have done. So plausibility doesn't seem that much of a factor.

As far as mind powers go, I like this one a lot better than the last one.

@fullmetalpirate: I wouldn't doubt it. He more than likely can insert himself into any memory.

Though I did see one small plothole seeing as neither Chad nor Orihime were around for the Aizen battle. So he'd have to have inserted that one.

Re: Bleach Manga Discussion [may contain spoilers]

I just re-read the last two weeks worth of Bleach chapters and I must admit that the series has really been quite good as of late compared to the slump I felt it was in just a mere couple months ago. I'm loving the altercation that has taken place inside of the house where Tsukishima invited Ichigo in, I hate seeing Ichigo and Chad at odd's but it is what it is and there seems to be something quite big going on here, or at least about to happen. The art in this series has been great recently too, it's almost as if Tite has woken up and got the artistic vibes going because everything seems a little more crisp, I'm hoping the story and art remain as good as they have been lately and I'm glad Bleach is fun for me again.
