The Woman Called Fujiko Mine Episode Discussion Thread

My thoughts:

Animation is nice, mature tone is refreshing and the fanservice didn't bother me at all.

Most important for me was that it was very engaging and didn't feel slow at all.

Time speeds up when you watch something good. smile

I'm not going to lie even if I do sound like a pervert.

I like the nudity! heart And props to Funimation for leaving it uncensored.

Though I guess it shouldn't be a surprise. The public airing in Japan was uncensored too (that's why it airs so early in the morning).

It's not like High School DxD that only airs uncensored on AT-X because that's a premium channel Japanese fans have to pay for.

Any other airings of the show on other public channels are censored.

Since Japanese fans have to pay to legally watch the uncensored version, it kind of would be a middle finger if foreigners (North American fans) got an uncensored version legally for free.

I'm sure the Japanese hentai market is already pissed that they can only buy censored versions while every other country receives the content uncensored. dumb

Certainly explains some of the reverse importation fears the Japanese hentai companies have.

I've never seen any Lupin before, but this is pretty cool. I love stories about criminals or villains, so I'm always looking for more. The fanservice didn't bother me as much as I expected it to. Unlike most shows, here it makes sense and works as part of the plot. It's not just randomly thrown in. The animation style is cool, but it's not amazing or very fluid. I'll definitely be watching more of this.

Re: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine Episode Discussion Thread

Basically, this is an animation that's not for kids.

When it appeared in the 70's, the spy action / comedy was extreme for it's day?

They have just updated it for the 2010's, keeping pace with modern cinema PG 13 or R in a way that really keeps the spirit of the original designs, while exaggerating them even more.

( from the guy who worked on future racing anime Redline, and Animatrix. )

It takes a lot to impress me at this point, but this is an outstanding continuation of the legendary series.

It's about time! pirate

This may be the best anime of spring 2012. Also Goemon... did he and everyone else (especially Zenigata) take a level in BA?

Goemon has always been that badass. It's just better animated now.

So now we've met all the main characters... for the first time

My thought on the Goemon episode is - it's a little too silly! Compared with the others
( btw - did that remind anyone of Fujiko's persona from Cagliostro? )

But this is still turning out to be the best new anime of 2012. Bravo.

The recent Live Action Goemon was rather amazing also! ( Closer to the historical character? Or not... they just take stylistic drifts in different directions... )

So, um, wow... that was, uh, quite the way to start off an episode. Did... did I miss something with Zenigata? Dude has taken both a level in badass and pervert. Ep kinda had a sudden ending though that felt a little anticlimactic. Oh well can't wait to see how the group comes together.
