I'd want Funi to go the Tenchi route and get some of the original cast members back.
I'm just too used to Tonly Oliver and Michelle Ruff as Lupin and Fujiko.

That's basically the same as asking if Funimation would use some of the Ocean Production VAs for the Funimation dub of Dragon Ball Kai.
Didn't happen and was never even considered since FUNi has their own in-house cast who have worked on the franchise before and have been for years (though there will be an alternative dub of Kai with the Ocean cast for Europe and possibly Canada but that dub is being produced by a different company who has the license for those regions).
Point is, even if there are fans of another dub cast (whatever the anime is), Funimation will still use its own cast if they've already worked on the franchise before.
Plus there's the strong possibility some of the FUNi Lupin cast (who do return) might feel like they have something to prove and will want to exceed their past efforts.
Then there's also convenience and a bit of laziness?
VA who is available within driving distance or VA who will need plane tickets and a motel room paid for?
They are going to have a fun time dubbing this one! Lots of "deadpan humor" and such.
It occurs to me - Lupin might be the most re-dubbed anime series, given all the different companies who have done it over 40 years!
There was even a ( apparently TERRIBLE ) live action movie made about it.
I'm surprised they haven't done a CG feature of it ( though the PS2 game included some decent cinemas, even though it was not that great of a title...)

In the 40th anniversary "Master File" DVD & BD release there is a new CG short included.
Wolf of Monte Carlo: The live-action movie from 1974 is actually pretty fun and silly. If you're expecting anything resembling the "Fujiko" series, you're definitely in for a letdown.
The "Master File" was just a single disc with a very short OVA using the older voice cast, the pilot episode of Lupin VIII (~1982, unaired), and some other miscellaneous Lupin-related video clips and data. It's not a full-on collection of anything actually released. It's really just a "sequel" OVA to "The Secret File" from 1995, which included the public debut of the Pilot Film and other assorted Lupin video clips.
Speaking of being re-dubbed, the first anime film, "Mystery of Mamo" might hold the record of the most unique dubs recorded for a single movie all in the same language. It has four: Toho dub (ca. 1979), Streamline dub (1994), Manga UK dub (VHS only, 1995), Pioneer/Phuuz (2003). Only one of those voice casts was exclusive to "Mamo" (the Toho dub), but there's definitely been a lot of action on dubbing Lupin. Beyond those four, there's the Funimation dubs, the AnimEigo "Fuma" dub, and the Manga US/Animaze... "Cagliostro" dub. If I am missing any, I blame the lateness of the hour. I expect "Fujiko"—despite its apparent drop in quality at this point—will continue in the tradition by ushering in a "Funimation cast version 2."
Yes, I'm a classic Lupin Fan, though I don't know THIS much about it!
( maybe you ARE actually Lupin? )
My favorites are Cagliostro ( Miazaki did wonders, but he also changed the personality )
and Mamo, which seems like the traditional Lupin taken to to Nth degree!

Yes, I know. Fujiko is a Reboot / Side Story that literally puts a new "twist" on the series.
I guess they wanted to make it more "extreme" for the new generation?
( As was RedLine, which the designer did previously?)
Wow - I guess I've only seen the Pioneer one. I bet the Toho has a classic sound to it, eh?
Which do YOU think is best of all of those?
Actually, I'm from Monte Cristo. Lupin III is probably the "Wolf of Monte Carlo", as in the intro scene to Cagliostro!

Those guys work in California. Funimation will use it's own talent pool.
Come to Otaku Revolution!
Dameon would be a good choice. Too bad he hasn't done anything anime related in about 5-7 years. Except the DBZ games, I think.

No Dub = No Buy

Interesting... I'm surprised they went for the "photo" look instead of the "cel shaded"?
This "Master File" is a box set of all material? That would be a big box!
