Now this thread is kind of a successor to the -Fam, the Silver Wing- English Dub Speculation and Discussion Thread thread. Many are saying that it should be in-house dubbed like all other series Funimation has originally licensed but I say that it's best for this series to be dubbed via Bang Zoom! Entertainment because of the previous series's dub. The same can be said with Eureka 7: AO for that same reason. The cast for the returning characters will be the same but Dio will have to be voiced by a new VA (most likely Yuri Lowenthal) since Joshua Seth (who originally voice him in the first series) has retired from voice acting in 2005.

Possible English dub of Last Exile: Fam, the Silver Wing

Latest ANNCast- it will be in-house with "attempts" to bring in recurring actors.
We all know how that works out.

Again!? Why are all Funimation dubs just going to be in-house these days?! I would like to see Funimation use some variety like Bang Zoom! and Ocean Studios (for Index, Railgun, and (possibly) Hayate the Combat Butler) since many Funimation VAs are being used too much, which could cause attentive VAs to recognize whose VA is that (Brina Palencia with Hideyoshi and Ciel). That announcement, I consider a BS decision because I prefer sequels to series previously licensed to be dubbed at the same studio (like Bang Zoom! Entertainment for Eureka 7 AO).

They're gonna use their in-house studio because it's cheaper and more efficient to do it that way. The good thing with Last Exile and Eureka Seven is that it seems as if not very many characters from the first series return for the second. In particular, FUNimation need only strike a deal with a handful of actors to return, and there isn't the awkwardness of the bad blood between FUNimation and Ocean that Shana and Black Lagoon will likely suffer from. This is what I think the cast will end up being:
Last Exile -Fam, the Silver Wing-

@Rootsofjustice: What bad blood between Funi and Ocean. First Shana and then (possibly) Black Lagoon. Already everyone knows that if Funi in-house dubs Roberta's Blood Trail, then the fans are going to be extremely livid. BTW, What's with this "bad blood" between Funi and Ocean, and also, you're being to supportive of everything in-house, which means that you want the English dub pool to be homogenized to Texas-recorded, thus lacking in any variety.

The bad blood's a long story involving Saban and DBZ. Saban dropped out of co-funding DBZ, FUNi couldn't afford Ocean anymore so they got local stage actors to do one themselves, and not everyone was made aware of the change at the time. Nasty words were said, wounds festered but never fully healed. They probably would've sucked it up and made a deal had Geneon and Universal Studios Japan merged and complicated the licensing process for a year and a half. Had things gone according to schedule, they probably could've gotten to Ocean before the MLP contract was signed and Tabitha St. Germain became a hot (and expensive) commodity. Without Roberta for Roberta's Blood Trail or Shana for Shakugan no Shana, what's the point of outsourcing the dub?
I do have to say about your other comments though:
1) You say fans will be livid, but so far you're the only one I see complaining. A fanbase isn't your personal army, so it would probably be best not to threaten anger among them unless you have more people than I can count on a shop teacher's hand on your side.
2) You complain about FUNimation's actor pool being homogenized when in reality ALL FOUR major North American VO pools have the same problem. You wanted Yuri Lowenthal as Dio when he's in EVERYTHING Bang Zoom and Studiopolis do, and don't get me started about the number of times I hear Brad Swaile in Ocean dubs. Trust me, it's not a problem unique to FUNimation.
3) I do support FUNimation's choice in using local talent for their dubs and keeping the money they spend on their dubs in Texas. It's good for the economy.
4) I also don't piss and moan when they can't get actors from an older series to come back. I've got much more important things to be pissed off about, like how rich people pay less of their total annual income than middle class people in taxes. When you think about that, FUNimation hiring Brina Palencia instead of Tabitha St. Germain doesn't seem like that big a deal.
@RootsofJustice: I was referring to dubs in general, not the VA pool. I did not say that Funi's VA pool was homogenized. I said that anime dubs will be homogenized to Texas dubs if this keeps up. BTW Cherami Leigh will do Shana (and she's the only one that's actually GOOD compared to everyone else in the new cast).

I know that, it's just that rootsofjustice though I was saying that Funi's va pool is homogenized, which isn't. What I was saying is that anime dubs would continue to be homogenized to texas dubs.
