Any chance of funi picking up the OVAs? I am waiting to by both sets of kenichi once the season two-classics box is released. (PS I think that the box art for it is totally awesome looking! Good job funi)

Well, you're in luck. The second one just got released! I'm still waiting for it to get a little cheaper... but I'm not waiting for it to go S.A.V.E. That'll take too long. ~_^
I just wish we'd hear SOMETHING about the OVA's or the series being continued... this not knowing is maddening. ~_~
If there is to be a continuation of the anime I seriously hope they redo the parts the OVAs 'covered'. Too much was skipped and the scenes were too rushed to be effective.

I assume you're talking about scenes like Kenichi getting his new outfit?
If there is a new season, scenes that were skipped could always be covered later.
I know a few anime series that for reasons unknown don't adapt the manga chapter by chapter in chronological order and instead adapt some later chapters earlier and some earlier chapters later.
Not just that, it also completely missed out on the chinatown scenes (which explain Renka's presence) as well as the scenes with the base's hidden weapons.
Those are just from memory, I'm positive there are more.

Animation is expensive, they could be skipping chapters purposely to get to the meat of the story in hopes of being picked up by one of the networks. And as a fan I hope they do because that would mean new episodes for us. And if so many series have used flash backs to explain the skipped chapters, hopefully we get a season 3, and if so they could always use that technique were they not to redo everything from scratch.
So it all depends on how it does in Japan and if Japan is willing to let us use it over here?

Good news!
Seems this episode is adapted directly from the manga! (unlike episode 1 which was original but still had Sho Kano).
Episode 2 seems to be the encounter with Li Raichi which is the very beginning of the Yomi/Yami arcs.
Perhaps there will be an announcement of a new season in the future to serve as a continuation.
