I've watched the first OVA know and it's what i expected from Kenichi total awesomeness i really like that the ova continues on from the last episode of the TV series.
i hope more girls like kinichi if there is a third season xD Kisara liking Kinichi will be fun to see. I also hope their will be episodes where they relax and have fun. but most of all 200+ episodes

They need to continue the series in Japan first. I have not heard if they have continued the series. The reason that I have heard why they stopped was because the Japanese voice actor for Miu (Tomoko Kawakami) passed away from cancer.
The OVA is good. I am glad that they got a new voice actor for Miu (Rie Kugimiya) by which they could continue the actual series, but the series will not be the same with out Tomoko Kawakami voicing Miu.
I don't see why they won't. But you never know. How has this series sold for them so far? If it's sold well for them so far, then I don't see any problems with them picking up the OVA's too. Maybe if these sell well over here, it may inspire the Japanese to continue the series again. I know they take death seriously... but so do we. I've wanted to try this series for a long time and I think now's the time. ~_^
I believe Funimation has gone on record saying Kenichi has sold very well and surpassed expectations.
If it didn't sell well, they never would have picked up the rest of the episodes (27-50), IIRC Funimation only originally licensed episodes 1-26.
TMS Entertainment from what I hear overestimates the value of their titles so they probably charge a hefty sum for them.
Kenichi also being re-released as an "Anime Classic" further confirms it sold well.
The only thing that might prevent the OVAs from being licensed is that they're limited edition DVDs bundled with certain manga volumes in Japan.
TPTB in Japan may not want another country to have the rights to print indefinite copies while their own market has limited copies...
Hopefully everything works out. Since the DVD region codes aren't the same (unlike Blu-ray) there shouldn't be worries about reverse importation.
(Though any hardcore fan can just buy a region free DVD player but I guess Japanese companies aren't really worried about that).
That's easy to address... just don't issue the manga. There, problem solved! As to whether or not there's more to the show or not in Japan lies solely on them right now. But if they're not even letting the OAV's out of Japan at the moment, that's their call. But if it's strictly a matter of the manga, then you already heard my suggestion. If that's all the problem is, then just don't release it with it over here. But that shouldn't limit the release just because of that little detail.
And even if you're an avid fan with a region-free player, it wouldn't do you much good if you don't know Japanese. Just thought I'd point that out.

I made a page for all characters shown so far in the first episode.

Hope we get more Yomi and Yami members in episode 2 who actually talk besides Sho Kano.

Kenichi is ballin I'd loooove to see them do this plus they cant just make a awesome anime and then stop it while the manga is still coming in,
That OVA was great a mean what could be better than a naked Weapon Master fighting Kunoichi!
