Preparations for Ayames schemes were well under way as the moon was sinking deeper into the night sky. In spite of the lateness of the hour her soldiers and servants showed no signs of fatigue. Various captains were roused by Shadow in an effort to speed up the organization of the palace guard. The multitude of castle servants hustled back and forth preparing food for the troops that would soon occupy the garrison and preparing a meal for Ayames attendants that would soon be arriving that night.
All the while Rynae paced around her room throwing together an outfit out of the discarded clothing scattered around the room. Grumbling to herself about losing another nights sleep thoughts of the quickest ways to gather those responsible for doing Lady Ayames bidding filled her head. Immediately after Shadow had left her room with orders to gather up the retainers Rynae had sent a runner out. Not that she had any concrete ideas where Ayame’s gang of rabble had chosen to spend their time away from her.
In fact it was odd for them all too even be in the same place at the same time so this was most definitely an odd situation. The normal routine of the castles activities was often handled with just one or two of them here, and with Rynae calling the castle home she was usually the one taking care of the various tasks without their assistance anyways. But orders where orders she thought to herself as she disrobed and proceeded to glance around the room for anything that would resemble an outfit.
Hastily throwing on clothes, and casting them off with equal speed, she took a moment to cast a glance towards the mirror and smiled. She had still managed to maintain a flawless figure, but now was not the time for such matters. It was true that Rynae had no definitive idea where the castles ever vacant residents might be found but they were most definitely creatures of habit. Thus Rynae had a strong hunch as to where her colleagues could be located. So utilizing that hunch she had sent the hapless runner on a course set around the entire castle and surrounding town. The first stop being the far Eastern Spur of the castle and the Shrine of the Evening Mist.
Although the hour was late it was not so late that Rhea would have left the Shrines grounds for the night. Holding up a pair of earrings in each hand and slowly glancing at which one would go better with her tangled mess of hair Rynae envisioned in her head the exact way that the first meeting would take place. The Easternmost spur of Ayames castle was not directly connected to the building itself. Instead a retaining wall added onto it surrounded the garden shrine and effectively enclosed it as a part of the castle grounds. Immediately upon exiting the doorway that lead out of one of the east’s tower a flight of poorly maintained steps would lead down into the Shrines grounds. This area rarely saw sunlight, even when what little sun that shone was out, thus it would exude an eerie aura from the mist that never seemed to fully dissipate. The mist swirled around the long untended gardens rosebushes and vastly overgrown flora. Following the broken and battered cobblestone path directly at the center of the Shrine would sit a ruined dais that had predated even the castle itself. Surrounded on all sides by ruined pillars that had seen better days its sole occupant would be a young girl dressed in ceremonial robes that were two sizes too big, slowly dancing and singing to herself around the shrines area.
With two small tufts of golden blonde hair sticking out form the sides of her head in what would one day be pigtails, a cute yet vacant expression and an odd sense of humor that seemed to hint at knowing all that was going on while understanding none of it would be Rhea. The runner would deliver Rynaes message form the Lady Ayame and Rhea would then proceed to prepare the Shrine for a meeting and hastily trip over her two sizes too big robes. Wishing the runner the “best of luck” Rhea would see him off with a wave and a smile to his next target. She was a bit unorthodox but her position was simply that of Ayames apprentice for the time being and warranted no great responsibilities.
Yet again Rynae was speculating that the Lady Ayame would want to use the shrine for a meeting ground but she could think of no better place to have a secret meeting so it was a fair assumption that this place would be the one being used.
