Re: Funimation Getting Hetalia Season 5?

It will come out on January 25th, 2013.

There is already a PV preview trailer of the series in Japan. New animation look and new theme music.

The question however is if it will come to the US under Funimation for another good round. I would support this series by buying anything Hetalia related for Funimation if I have to.

I'm actually really excited about the new season being dubbed. I love the wit that comes across and the crudeness is just hilarious to me. Maybe just because I'm a crude person, but I sincerely hope that they make it.

So far, I am loving the new season. I hope it gets over to America soon. If we haven't gotten our Volume mangas 4 and 5 yet, the anime will have to do.

I actually like Hetalia based on the silly English Dubbing. I don't mind if others find it "offensive", but it's a joke that isn't suppose to be taken seriously. Even the voice actors comment how far jokes can go and apologize to their fans if they find it offensive.

I don't want Funimation to change that in Hetalia English Dub. If you do not like it, then just switch it over to Japanese Dub with English Sub that comes with the DVD bought in America from stores like Best Buy or Amazon. It's not that hard."

[Sorry for quoting terribly - for some reason, I can't quote anything right. This, and the below, comes from Kesesesese - The Awesome Prussia/me.]

(I find it funny that someone mentioned Sgt. Frog's sale drops - that might've been the crude jokes as well, actually).

I agree that a joke should be taken as a joke and nothing more, but as the seasons pass they ARE, whether you like to admit it or not, getting more and more offensive (and less joke-like). I don't want the dub to change too much - I love the voices and the humor can still be very funny, but I feel embarrassed watching something with jokes that are a bit too crude for my PG-loving family. Heck, they're too crude for my PG-13-loving self.

While you might not like it if they change the dub, I personally would prefer it and would probably start buying the DVDs if they were a little more appropriate. However, if the jokes only get worse from here on, I would probably stop watching all together.
I watch the new season as it is, but I find it boring and hate the new art style. I do, however, look forward to seeing how the dub spices things up, and until then, I watch as I wait so I have something for comparison. If I heard Funimation was dubbing it, but the jokes would remain crude (or get worse), I would stop watching it all together. There are probably others who agree if the crude jokes is indeed why the sales have dropped.

That being said, if I'm spending so much money on a DVD collection of five-minute episodes, I'd prefer if it's for the dub, not so I can switch it over to the sub, which I can easily watch elsewhere for free. This is being brought up in regards to your "if you don't like it, switch to the sub on the DVD" comment. Not to mention that people don't like to support things they don't agree with - if they disagree with a particular show, why would they put money towards a DVD of it just to see the less-crude sub - especially while knowing that another 'crude' dub could be made using their money.

I agree with you on the idea that Hetalia's dub is great for the 'silly' dubbing - heck, everyone knows I love a good comedy! After a while, though, foul language and offensive jokes aren't exactly humorous, and they lose their 'charm' (whatever 'charm' it had in the first place). If, and I'm using the word 'if' for the example, it turns out that this is why sales have dropped, I will say that I am not surprised. They had this coming.
