Hellsing OVA IX and Girlycard

Hellsing OVA 9 came out in Japan a few days ago. After that I've been pestering Funimation to license it lickety split so they could dub and release it along with OVAs 5-8. And Girlycard? In the Japanese version, (s)he was voiced by Joji Nakata all the same. So who will voice him/her in the dub? Will it be Crispin Freeman, or given that Girlycard is a female form of Alucard, maybe a female voice actor, namely Monica Rial or Colleen Clinkenbeard? Or maybe Crispin and the female actor could voice him in usnison, making him/her even creepier.

Changing the actor to a female actor would ruin the mood. Like Alucard sad "Appearance and shape hold no meaning for me" and changing his voice to a little girl's voice would kill his epicness.

Actually I would be happy if Funimation would wait with the release until the end of this year or early 2013 and release Hellsing Ultimate (episodes 1-10) in 1 Complete Pack, instead of releasing it in 10 separate volumes. Maybe they could even throw in Hellsing The Dawn 1-3 as a bonus too. Releasing the entire series on 5 DVD disks instead of 10 would be better on the financial side for both Funimation and their customers.

No wonder Funimation is (or rather, appears to be) dragging its heels. Any Hellsing OVA dubbed episode, in the meantime, should be put on this website while we wait though.

Except I wasn't proposing a little girl's voice for Girlycard, but rather the voice of a mature adult woman thirsty for blood. One good example would be Jo from Burst Angel. Monica Rial voiced her in such a way you knew she wasn't playing around. When she was supposed to sound mad, she really did sound like she wanted to rip you head off. So Monica's Jo voice would be perfect for Girlycard. Better yet, Monica and Crispin could talk in unison to make it even scarier.

Why not Funimation just let Crispin Freeman voice Girlycard alone? That would be better (and retain the integrity of the Japanese language track as the VA who did Alucard also did Girlycard alone) as opposed to making both Crispin and Monica voice Girlycard in unison.

You know something... You're probably right. After all, we wouldn't want to halt Crispin Freeman's Alucard performance anyways.

At the same time, when I read Hellsing Manga volumes 9 and 10, I imagined Girlycard with a female voice and when I saw the end of Hellsing OVA 9 and heard Joji Nakata still voice Girlycard just the same, I was shocked. If you prefer it that way, along with Dub Girlycard voiced by Crispin Freeman, then... done!

While it would be supportive for Funimation's financial standards, Funimation did release some of their past franchises in separate volumes before releasing whole sets. It's how they released Fullmetal Alchemist, Samurai 7, Burst Angel, Basilisk, Speed Grapher, Claymore, Kiddy Grade, and so on. So it would make sense if Funimation released what's already been dubbed of Hellsing Ultimate in separate volumes as well. And while we wait for the complete set, we can rent the separate DVDs from Netflix instead of going out and buying them. Oh, and those Luke-And-Jan specials from Japan? Funimation should dub them and release them as extras as well, and all the DVD cover art in Japan should be put in a small booklet that comes with the complete series, along with other artworks, giving Complete Hellsing Ultimate a deep well of extras, which I encourage. But I hope Funimation plans them ahead of time, and releases what they've dubbed of Hellsing Ultimate so far on their website for us to watch.

According to Lance and Adam in their last ANNCast, FUNi's contractually obligated to release vols. 5-8 in singles.
Presumably when they license the remaining episodes, they'll have to release those singly as well.

Then I wonder why it's taking forever for them to release OVA 5 complete with an English dub. Along with 6-8. They did say they wanted to release them in one fell swoop, and maybe OVA 9 is complicating things a little.
