Can't say I'm all to pleased about this news, looks like I'll be holding off on the pre-order till we get a few more details on whether or not a BD release will even happen at a later date.
Here is what I read according to Anime News Network:
Quote:
Funimation responded, "In order to bring Heaven's Lost Property Forte to our fans as quickly as possible, the March 20, 2012 release will contain a 2-disc DVD set. The packaging will also include a 4 color filler box with limited edition art cards exclusive to this set. We apologize for any confusion."
I do not see a reason why a Blu-ray release is not possible sometime in the future, but one can only assume. Hopefully the BD release is sooner than later.
As I have already made my opinion clear on this matter, no place is as good as Funi's own forums. I am sorely disappointed by the lack of a blu-ray option and have thus cancelled my pre-order. I refuse to buy a DVD only release and taking off $5 from the msrp just adds insult to injury. I have decided to relegate any future Funimation titles to "wait and see" mode for reviews and/or if anything changes action. A delay would have been more than acceptable.
I'm greatly disappointed in this new. I would have rather have them delay the release. I won't cancel my pre-order yet until I here news from Funi. The only question I got is when they do release the blu-ray version will it come in L.E. with the 4 color filler box with limited edition art cards set.

Well, we have discovered a piece of the puzzle. But the thing is, yeah people do like to have their collections all nice. And I don't feel comfortable buying this limited edition, when it's not the highest form of this show, excluding the fact that I have the first season in Blu-Ray. If they just released the first show in DVD, I wouldn't be as bothered. I guess I too will cancel my Pre-Order, till a Blu-Ray package is included
I won't buy a high def sourced show in a low def format, that is just redundant.
However, I am glad funi isn't pushing the blu-ray release like bandai did on kurokami. A forced english only audio track, I bet that killed their sales.
Forced subtitles are just as bad, it make me have to re-author the disc to remove them, which is just a pain.
This is bad.. I just finished watching the first season on Blu-Ray and came here to check on Forte's status, also was getting ready to pre-order the BD/DVD Limited Edition on Amazon.
Welp, too bad. If they can't give me a Blu-Ray, I won't be pre-ordering it and I'll wait for more information. Of course, if they confirm that a Blu-Ray release will never happen, I'll buy it on DVD (albeit with MAJOR disappointment), but until then I'm not buying anything. I'll just pour my money into Bandai's titles before their licenses expire and the releases go Out of Print. I doubt such a situation will happen, but we never know.
And the same goes for the movie, of which I was really excited about just a few minutes ago. Here's hoping FUNimation doesn't have to resort to such practices with future titles.
If a blu ray release is going to come out later a coupon or discount on it for those who buy the DVD version now would be nice.

Funi just save me money by doing this, thank you!

Any news on the Blu-Ray release of season 2? I watched the livecast but may have missed the news about season 2 on Blu-Ray.
