A terrible disappointment compared to the first series, from which it is a step down in every conceivable way (art, animation, music, direction, writing, and voice acting). The plot itself is strong enough that it may still hold value for some viewers, but the execution is so poor (and so overwhelmingly inferior to the first series) that it is liable to nonetheless leave a bitter taste in fans' mouths. If you've seen the first series and you want more Gunslinger Girl, you're probably better off reading the manga. Dear Marvelous: If you make another season (and I honestly hope you do), for the love of god give the production reins back to Madhouse.
