Re: Tales of the Abyss 3DS port coming to North America
@Zeether: Well, Vesperia's prequel is also on the way (and with a dub included, unlike Abyss which is being released sub-only), but we still have no word on a possible localization of the PS3 port.
Re: Tales of the Abyss 3DS port coming to North America
Woot I so can not wait, its been so long (Tales of Eternia) since I last played a tales game. Namco Bandai is definitely up there as my favorite company (Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm and Ultimate Ninja Heroes games FTW!!!)
Oh anyway, now if we get Tales of Xillia next and Tales of Graces F for PS3 I will be even more ecstatic.
Re: Tales of the Abyss 3DS port coming to North America
If they keep the original english voices then I am definitely going to buy a 3DS just for this game (and also Devil Survivor but I dunno if it will be released in Europe).

I'm hoping it also means we'll get voiced skits in the US 3DS release, since they could fit in the extras for the US PS2 version in along with audio for the skits. If the 3DS carts can really reach up to 8GB in size, there shouldn't be a problem.
From the interview (or the NP article, I'm not sure...) Sorry if old:
- 3DS cart size proved to be a challenge for fitting everything on there, particularly voice data was an obstacle but he says he feels like they solved this while keeping the quality high.
- "Every part of the game, with the exception of the animated cut-scenes, has been redone in 3D." Yoshizumi thinks this makes the game seem more real than before. More immersive
- They had to rebuild the character models to improve performance, but the rest of the game has been ported over seamlessly.
- They made a few changes to "in-game parameters" to compensate for control differences, but other than that there aren't any new additions. No new weapons or artes.
- No communication (StreetPass, etc.) features.
- They've talked about a sequel to Abyss, but haven't yet come up with something that would be good enough for a full game.
- Yoshizumi promises that the load times have been reduced significantly, and also says that they should be able to deliver a steadier framerate (I think he's talking about the world map in specific here)
- Confirms that skits will remain unvoiced in this version.

Aw man! It's hard enough trying to adjust to the music volume lowering...and hearing no voices coming out.
I kind of figured this would happen seeing how the anime was being released here.
Thats good news, and gives me yet another reason to buy a 3DS sometime this summer.

Tales of Graces f *is* getting localized. We just don't know if it'll only be the PS3 version.
I was so excited when I read that. I'm dying for an RPG for the 3DS.

So, performance upgrades, but nothing else.
