Hey guys, recently, I've been planning to try and see if I should make gaming videos, as a lot of my friends and people from games consoles have said I should do commentaries and show gameplay etc. So I decided, why not? I enjoy it, so it should be fun. But I just wanted to ask you guys, if any of you guys know a good microphone for a Laptop that would be good for this sort of thing. I'm soon going to get a HDPVR and the other equipment. So I'm just in a bit of trouble finding a good microphone. So any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi CJVX!
I don't know a whole lot about mics but I do have this suggestion. I got this microphone last year called the Blue Snowball USB Microphone. It's a really really nice microphone. I use it for voice overs in garageband, singing, guitar, and random other things. It sounds really crisp and clear. I love it. And it's plug and play. So it works easily.
It's a tiny bit expensive but it's really high quality.

I watched a lot of youtube vids with people comparing the sound before I bought.
Hope that helps! Good luck with your search x3

As a guy who watches gameplay videos fairly regularly, I can tell you that they're always better without commentary.
Currently watching: Berserk, Fairy Tail, Bleach, Naruto Shippuden, One Piece, Ghost in the Shell, Yugioh: Zexal, Yugioh GX, Gun X Sword
Currently playing: Final Fantasy IX
I dunno some of those 'Let's Play ---' vids are a lot more funny and interesting with commentary xD I guess it can depend on the game though.

Appreciate the suggestion eddie, it looks really good, I may do some more research on it, and by the explanation you've given me, it sounds great. Also Eresir, I know how you feel at times, I enjoy watching both, but sometimes commentary to me makes it more entertaining XD

USB Headsets with mics tend to work great and have a good lifetime (if you take care of them). Great sound quality and you'll come in clear to the listeners. Good ones run about 50$ or higher.
If you plan on using voice chat such as Ventrilo or Skype, definitely. I've been using a stand alone microphone for over a year now and it works great with Ventrilo, but it cuts out on Skype sometimes during conversations. So if you plan on spending the money on something worth while, get an USB headset.

I would recommend a Turtle Beach headset. They're really nice and quite affordable too.
