Been a while since I posted in the Game section here, but since nobody else has posted the news yet - we are on the verge of Generation VI of Pokemon guys!
That's right, this October will be the WORLDWIDE release (which is, awesome, by the way) of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, the new games in one of my favorite gaming franchises (and probably the one that I own the most different copies of come to think of it). There's not a whole lot known yet obviously, since it was just announced, but thanks to the announcement, and the new trailer -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bIrWryFc7A&feature=player_embedded
- here's what we do know.
1) It'll be in full 3D on the 3DS. As much as this makes me rage in sadness because I don't have a 3DS, it was inevitable. And DEAR GOD look at that beautiful environment and animation. I'm sorry bridge scenes in Black/White, but you have been soundly surpassed. Holy. Crap.
2) Obviously, the titles are 'X' and 'Y' instead of going with colors again. I wonder what the reasoning for this is? Did they just run out of cool color type names or emeralds, or is there something in the game to tie into this? As of now, just going off of the titles, I'm thinking I'd probably get 'X' eventually, because that just sounds cooler.
3) We see the three new starter pokemon in the trailer: Chespin, who seems to be the Plant starter; Fennekin, who seems to be a Fire starter; and Froakie, who seems to be a Water starter. I'm pretty much inclined to always go with the Fire starter, but we'll see once we find out what their evolved forms are like.
4) No names for them yet, but the trailer does feature what appear to be two new Legendaries; one is a bird, who looks AWESOME, and the other is some kind of deer, who doesn't look to shabby himself.
That's basically all I got, check out that trailer guys. This is some exciting stuff.

I really wanna play this game, but I don't wanna buy a 3DS
Glad I got a 3DS this Christmas. With Fire Emblem next month and Pokemon in October this looks like the best point I could've gotten one. I'm excited for the games despite my mixed feelings for there be even more of the little critters now.

All the new Pokemon and classic ones from previous games and released worldwide at the same time...I CAN'T WAIT FOR OCTOBER!
But first, I need a 3DS... TT_TT
"I can see...the Ending!" - Keima Katsuragi
"I gonna be a Pokemon Master!" - Ash Ketchum
I don't have a 3DS, but that can easily be remedied; I have 9 months to save up money and a birthday in September if I want to go that route. Looking forward to the release. Going to be interesting to see how well it adapts to 3D format.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't have a 3DS yet. I'm unlikely to get one before October too, so...I'm stuck. x__x
At any rate though, I can't wait for this game, though I agree that getting more creatures is 'meh'. If we could get a new game without any new creatures, I'd love it, but that'd never happen.

Double post of update, the two other Pokemon in the trailer really were Legendaries, and their names of been revealed.

Yeah, I just read that as well! Their names are
"I can see...the Ending!" - Keima Katsuragi
"I gonna be a Pokemon Master!" - Ash Ketchum
Yup, and I'm sad to say that I didn't notice at first that their names start with an 'X' and then a 'Y'. Calling it now that they'll be exclusive to each version (or be the first one you can get), and they'll be the cover creatures.
Also, there's some theorizing going on that maybe we're finally getting some customization options for the Trainer, based on that shot in the trailer of him standing in front of a mirror. That would be a cool way to do it, and would be something awesome and new to bring into the series.

The possibility of customization definitely interests me. It'll probably only be little things if they do have a customization feature, but I'm hopeful that if it's well received they'll go further with it.
Anyway, the possibility for the third game to be called Pokemon Z is there, unless they go the XX/XY route (have to say the chromosome thing did pop into my mind when I first read the names, though I wonder if that's what they're really going for) since B/W didn't get a third game but instead got sequels.

Yeah, if it's there, it'll be small I'm sure. I'm hoping it's true though, because that'd be awesome.
My first thought was also 'the third game will totally be Z if they do a third game', but I'm actually now thinking that it is the chromosome thing, based on the Japanese logos.
There's these little DNA helix things in the logos, that's left out of our own logos, so...yeah.
