So let me get this straight, this new collection will only have the PS2 games along with Peace Walker? If so then it's a good thing that i spent my birthday money on anime last month instead of video games like i originally planned to because i would've been very pissed over this news since one of the games i was going to buy was Peace Walker for the PSP.
I do have one question though and that is why isn't the first game on here? It would've been cool to have the Gamecube remake of MGS1 in this collection. I guess i shouldn't complain though since the PS1 version is on PSN but i do feel bad for those who own the 360.
Either way i'll be looking forward to buying this collection when it's out and when i have the cash.
I find it odd that they're leaving out the original game too, but maybe they didn't think it was worth making a HD version of that game? I mean, unless they completely re-did the game, HD PS graphics probably wouldn't be much to brag about.
I'm stuck in 3. I can't beat the freaking old man The End. I'll probably have to start the game over and try that chance where you can snipe him and never have to fight him later, because this other 'trick' to get around him I read about isn't working so far.

Ever heard of Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, the remake of the first one that was on the Gamecube?
I'm also baffled why the first game isn't in the collection.

Ah yes, the battle with the End. He's not terribly hard, honest! You could try to capture his parrot alive via the tranq gun->release parrton->parrot seeks "Grandpa"= gives away position.
Or you could just just sneak around and whip out the microphone and listen for his breathing or him talking to himself.
Also, if you can manage to sneak up directly behind him 3 times, you can aquire his Moss Camo, which grants the highest camo index and can also heal you while you lay on moss!
Oh, how are you enjoying the radio chats? Have you heard the one while inside a cardboard box?
@ Shadow - Nope, I hadn't heard about it really, other than murmurings in this thread. I'm new to the franchise. ^_^;
@ xDorminx - That's the problem is that I can never find that guy. But let me get this straight, if I catch the parrot rather than kill it, it'll give away his position somewhat? Hmm...now that, that could work maybe.

Yes, simply sedate the bird, then release it by throwing it like you would a grenade. Hopefully if the End is within the vicinity, you can figure out his position since the parrot will fly over "Grandpa's" head.
Oh, also, if you check your map frequently enough, you can find his sniper positions. And so whenever he sees you, a red circle should indicate his current posiition.
Hideo Kojima, comfortable in his natural habitat (Twitter) provided details of two regional versions of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. In Japan, the collection does not include Peace Walker, but does have a download code for the first Metal Gear Solid. The "overseas version" (meaning the one we get) doesn't include the download, but incorporates the HD version of Peace Walker.
In both regional variants, the HD version of Metal Gear Solid 3 is based on the "Subsistence" re-release, which means it has optional, user-controllable camera angles. That version also comes with the emulated MSX versions of Metal Gear 1 and 2, adding two more games to the collection!
Kojima also said that the Metal Gear Solid 2 HD release would be based on "subsistence," by which he must have meant "Substance." He wasn't clear on whether the basis was the PS2 or Xbox version -- a distinction that seems minor until you learn that the PS2 version had a skateboarding minigame that we need in HD. Finally, Kojima tweeted an image of the trophy icons for MGS2 and 3, which you can see after the break.

Awesome to see Metal Gear 1 & 2 get another release here since i never owned the original Subsistence release on the PS2 so i'll be looking forward to this collection much more now.

I don't know. I have the Metal Gear Solid Collection for the PS2 (includes MGS1 for PS1, MGS2: Substance, and MGS3: Subsistence) and it didn't come with Metal Gear 1 or 2 (must have been on a separate disc in the original release of Subsistence). While I'm excited for this, I'm probably not willing to double dip unless MGS1 is incorporated somehow.
I Love this series. Started with MGS1 for PS1 then MGS2 and 3 for the PS2. I didn't play MGS4 till this year when i finally got a PS3. Im Looking Forward to the HD collection because they are using the substance version and the MGS 3 substance version had the MSX version Of Metal Gear 1 and 2 so im using that as an excuse to re buy the HD collection(plus for peace walker). And of course there is MGS Rising which looks like the series is going into a different direction.

Or you could wait a week (in real time) and The End will die of old age. I'm not making this up.
