This is extremely sad news for fans. I could see it coming though since we got no updates on the prototype version. The Mega Man franchise is pretty much doomed at this point, what with Inafune leaving and all.

And with that Another Company I once admired dies within my eyes (man, peter pan was right...growing up does suck)
Oh well, I still have NIntendo & NIS America.
And hey if Capcom wants to give Megaman fans the middle finger, thats their loss...I'll stick with companies like Archie & Udon that treat the Blue-Bomber right with their Artbooks, Comics, & Manga.
But yeah, I really am worred for ol blue, they cancel universe, they cancel legends, whats next, they cancel his 25th anniversary game!? *knock on wood 1 million times*
Seriously, I just don't get Capcom, why mistreat one of your most popular characters? Sure he's not as big as he was in the 90's heck, none of em are...but if Nintendo can still use Mario, Kirby & the rest and SEGA can still use Sonic. Capcom can dang well still use Megaman.
But again, whatever, their loss...if they don't want my money....I'll just give it to companies that do.
LET ME PLAY FOR YOU, THE SONG OF MY PEOPLE!!!
I know people are going to disagree but to me this was a smart move. With Inafune gone from Capcom, they would've risked ruining this game like they ruined the entire X series after X5 so while it would've been fun to see this series end the way it should have 10 years ago, it was probably for the best that they dropped it.
^I'm a bit mixed on that. While I did have a bad feeling with Inafune leaving, I don't think he's exactly the sole lifeline.
On the topic, this really sucks.
The closing chapter is finally announced after so many years only to get canned due to some superficial criteria, which probably had ridiculous standards?
I haven't lost love for Capcom yet, but they're not invulnerable to bad or atrocious decision making. [particularly in choices relating to the blue bomber.]
They claim MM is still a flagship franchise to them, so I hope we can see some proof of that relatively soon.
And they say there currently aren't any plans, but here's to hoping they have the sense to eventually bring the Legends storyline closure even if it has to be on a future system.

That is baloney.
What game's existence hinges on active fan participation in the development process? [besides the obvious answer of this one.
]
How were you even supposed to get involved anyway? I voted and thought that was enough. >_>
capcom really needs inafune back
Oh well, I still have NIntendo & NIS America.
You heard of Operation Rainfall, Purple?
For quite a number, Nintendo are even further down just for refusing to push The Last Story, Xenoblade, Pandora's Tower (Three Nintendo games confirmed for European release which look like pretty big RPGs, the translations for two of them are done I've heard) to North America.
Not for me of course, since if I was American, I would have hacked my Nintendo Wii just as I did to play Unlimited Adventure for them...
Though some people admire Capcom's "honesty" over how Sony played with the PSN hacking and Nintendo kept NA waiting before a "No plans" answer.
I guess one example would be how Okamiden didn't satisfy me nearly as much as the original (portable sequel or not), though with it is simply killing the franchise unless they remake/port the original two games avaliable on a system or two... Preferrably the 3DS.
Not as much as Team Ninja needs Itagaki back. >_>
