Legend of Dragoon Coming to PSN

http://m.ign.com/articles/1222747

This is AWESOME news for me, and hopefully there's some other people around here who still remember this awesome RPG from the PS era. It's honestly my favorite RPG of all time, so getting a handheld option for it is awesome. I'm totally downloading it to my PSP when it becomes available, and I'll play the heck out of it. yell

Also interesting is the note that there WERE plans for a sequel at first years ago, but for whatever reason, they fell through. That part of the news kind of sucks. sad

Oh man that was such a good game. I still have my old PS1 copy around somewhere.

This was the game that got me into RPGs and it's still my favorite RPG of all time.

I've got mine, but the 3rd disc freezes so the last time I replayed it, I had to borrow a friend's to finish the game. I can only imagine how pricy it must be by now to find a used copy in good condition much less a brand new one...though I'd like to do that too, as a back up and if I wanted to play it on the TV again.

Same here. Initially I wasn't a fan of RPGs, I hated the 'hit button and wait till your turn comes' thing that traditional RPGs did and still do to this day, but the 'Additions' system that LoD had broke that monotony for me, and I ended up really enjoying it.

Nowadays, I'd say I'm 50/50 on RPGs. I don't always get to finish them all the way through, but that's where some of the better stories in games are, so I'm always eying them at least.

Yeah! This game really appealed to a lot of fighting game fans, because of the combo (aka Additional) system.

That could very well be it, as I was definitely a bigger fan of fighting games as a kid than I was RPG's. It would explain why the game continues to be my favorite too.

I loved the few dialogue choices we got in the game too, where we got to decide what Dart would say in reply to something.

Re: Legend of Dragoon Coming to PSN

Well guys, today's the day, get to buying Legend of Dragoon if you already love it, and if you're a new face looking for a great old RPG to play, I can't recommend this game highly enough.

That said though, it looks like we're still waiting just a bit...it's not on PSN just yet, but it should be by the end of the day if they keep to their own projected date. I'm wanting it up so I can see exactly how much it's gonna cost and how much space it's gonna need.

Update

Okay, it's up now. At only $5.99, this game is a STEAL. I can't believe it's not one of the $9.99 games, or how small the file size is considering. It's only 1.2 GB, so I may try to nab this tomorrow after all.

The reason why it's $5.99 is because it's a Sony game and not a third party title (Square, Konami).

The reason why the file size is small is because of the removal of redundant data across the four discs. IIRC, over 50% of the data on each disc contained the same content (game engine, character data, etc...).

Re: Legend of Dragoon Coming to PSN

I started to wonder if that's what it was, when I noticed all the Square stuff was $9.99. Not that $9.99 is a bad price at all either, but I'm kind of glad and distressed over LoD being cheaper, all at once. I'm happy cuz that's less I have to spend on essentially a double dip (though I don't think I actually bought my original copy anyway...I think it was a gift); and I'm a bit sad cuz I think it merits the same price as any FF title.

And ohhh, okay. So that's where the file size got so much smaller. As it is though, I'm definitely going to have to wait a bit longer yet to get the game, until I'm visiting a relative with internet 24/7. It's taking me over 10 hours just to get Crash Bandicoote and that's only 400+ MB...so...yeah... ~__~

That's pretty slow. What's your internet connection speed?

For me, it only takes 50 minutes to download a GB and I only have a 3Mb DSL connection.

I honestly have no idea. My usual internet is via my aunt's, and I know my mom's is faster, so it'll definitely go faster up there.

While getting Crash though, a question occurred to me - will it keep downloading if my PSP goes into sleep mode?
