BTW, I had heard that all the handhelds, Knuckles Chaotix, and Sonic 2006 were rubbed out of the continuity by Sonic Team. [Well, the storybook series aren't considered part of it either, but I think the AU status for those is pretty obvious. XD]
Now I know that last one was pretty bad and all, but why the handhelds and Chaotix? That's kinda saddening.

It did happen somewhat. I found that out when I played Sonic colors for the DS.
Spoiler: Highlight to view
They kind of made a reference to teaming up somewhere before which probably is a reference to Sonic '06 but they have no memory of it. ^^; Then again Sonic still remembers blaze so maybe not all the handhelds are out of the loop.
I added a spoiler tag just in case. ^^; I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't played the game.

I still currently lol that the current voice of Sonic = Chris Redfield (Resident Evil 5) and Deidara (Naruto). XD;
He's also the voice of Billy Coen in the Umbrella Chronicles version of RE Zero. XD
I was wondering if he was Billy in Umbrella Chronicles. XD;
Back on topic though, has there been ANY news on Part 2 of Sonic 4? XBOX 360 was advertising Part 1 last month, but I've heard NOTHING about Part 2.
Also, how many of the storybook titles have been released? I have Black Knight (courtesy of Gyt, though I haven't played it yet) and Gyt has Secret Rings, are there any others or are they slowly cranking them out?

On the first question: Last I heard, it was in early development. I definitely can't wait for it to come out, though.
On the second question: I believe those are the only two titles out for the SB series at the present time.
Thanks for the answers! Yeah, I thought those were the only two SB titles out now, but I always hear people talk about them (more like flame them indiscriminantley) as if there were more titles.
Oh, and this is just something I've been wondering for a while now since I'm not really a huge Sonic fan or know all that much about the series. From everything I've read, Shadow is now part of the main cast (but I have no idea if this is definitively true or not), but what happened to Silver? He was in like, 1 game and all of a sudden he doesn't exist anymore. Was his character so bad/cliche that they aren't using him now or what?
Sorry if my questions are kinda n00bish, but I'm not a HUGE Sonic fan, I did enjoy playing the original games (way back in the day) on the Genesis when I could go to my friend's house though.
He's a frequently recurring character, though I'm not sure I'd put him in the same tier as Tails, Knuckles, or Amy.
But along with characters such as Rouge, Blaze, etc., he is a big enough character that he shows up quite often.
As for Silver, Sonic 2006 has become a victim of Canon Discontinuity, so even the very makers are saying it never happened and removed it from the official continuity.

Why is it suffering from Canon Discontinuity? I never heard BAD things about Sonic 2006, but I never got the chance to play it either. Is it considered the black sheep of the series (along with Shadow's game) or something?

That kinda goes with the handhelds part, though.
Plus, that news recently came from an employee of SEGA.
I doubt all the handhelds were rubbed out. I'm fairly sure Rush is still cannon.

Shadow is....well, that's ambiguous.

I haven't really played it, but I heard it had a sub-par storyline, the characters introduced weren't very well received, and bad gameplay mechanics.
In truth, the events in the game retconned themselves in the ending. But from Sonic Team's current stance, they never happened at all to begin with.
