Dragon Warrior I-IV (NES)

Anyone here a big fan of the old Dragon Warrior games for the NES? I'm a huge fan of the 3rd and 4th installments and have played through part IV at least a half dozen times, the 3rd one I've played through once and have picked it up a time or two only to put it back down after several hours. Still, I love both games to death and have decided to play Dragon Warror IV once I'm done with my latest batch of SNES classics, when I'm done with part IV I'll play the 3rd one again, backwards to boot. I remember back in the mid 90's when I was heavily collecting NES carts Dragon Warrior IV was selling for $60 at Funcoland/Gamestop and the 3rd installment was selling for over $40, that was insane circa 1995-1997 when most NES games could be purchased for less than $10, many $3-$7 each, I remember earning some cash from shouveling snow and buying part IV in 1995 and being so excited that I actually owned it.

I actually had to drive to 2 different stores before I found Dragon Warrior III and I must have called 10 different stores before I found one that had part IV, man, those where the days when the thrill of the hunt kept you on your toes. Playing part IV again after about 8 years of not touching it will be tough since there is so many parts that trigger other parts and plotlines to happen, such as visiting a town specifically at night to talk to someone which allows you to talk to someone else which sets off a secret door. It'll be tough, but I'm excited about it!

So, who's a fan?

Re: Dragon Warrior I-IV (NES)

I remember those times where Dragon Quest was called Dragon Warrior here. smile

I do remember playing this series as a kid. Along with Final Fantasy, I'd say this makes up another major RPG experience of my childhood.

Haven't played much of the newer ones, though not from lack of trying. Which is why I hope Square Enix would see fit to release this collection over here. [It's just the NES and SNES versions of the first three games, but still....]
