Re: Is Ga Rei Zero a good anime to buy?

This is just my opinion but i didnt like the series to much. The first episode really draws you in but the rest of the series up till the end left me hanging. I would defiently check out online first then go from there man

It does not end as a cliffhanger it ends where the manga starts. As of right now the manga has not been adapted into an anime and may never be. If the manga is adapted into an anime it would not be a season two instead it would be the start of the anime Ga-Rei.

I also agree that a lot of your questions could be answered if you just did a Google search. Another very useful reference source for this kind of information is animenewsnetwork.com

As for your first question yes this is a fantastic anime imo.

Overall no matter the review / synopsis the nature of this show requires watching to see just how good it is. However as for a good review of this show I recommend reading the review on themanime.org

I thought it was a good series as a whole. It is also nice that it is a Bluray/DVD release. It does start you out in the thick of things, then goes back to explain to you what the hell just happened.

The only annoying part about the release itself, is that the Disc One Bluray and DVD are put in one case and Disc Two of the others in a separate one with the DVD extras disc. Whose bright idea was that? Wouldn't it be a better idea to put the Blu-ray in one case and the DVDs in the other...

Well to be fair, the title wasn't originally solicited as a combo pack. That was a last minute change and you can tell it was a last minute change, because there are no actual Blu-ray icons on the cases or box. It's only mentioned on the stickers, that were on the shrink wrap.

In short, all they did was used the DVD packaging and just changed the cases (to hold more discs). It's pretty easy to fix though. I just put the 2 Blu-ray discs in the first case and the three DVDs in the second one.

They are intentionally putting the combos in DVD packaging so that the stores can put them together in the anime section of shelving rather than them being lost among the BDs (something along those lines anyway).

I just watched the first episode so far and came out dissappointed. I thoguht I read this is the best episode in the series? I will still watch the rest of the series but I didn't know anything that was going on besides people dying. Does this show get better?

I personally found the first episode to be well executed and I really liked the last couple of minutes. It makes you say, "WTF just happened here?" I don't find it as the best episode in the series though, that would be the last three episodes.

Spoiler: Highlight to view
The first episode was designed to tell the main event in a new perspective by using a different cast of characters. As you can see, they get killed off at the end of the episode and we are finally introduced to the two main characters (Kagura and Yomi). When you get to episode 10, you'll see the same event but with the main characters of the show.

Give the second episode a shot, which revolves around the two main characters. Before warned, the episode will end in a cliff hanger and you won't go back to the scene until episode 10. Episode 3-9 tells the story of their past, which lead to the event we are seeing in episodes 1 and 2.

Ok, I suppose that make sense. I see on the Limited Edition box that it has has just the DVD label as well. My guess is it was already intended to be shipped in two cases and the labels were already designed and printed. Probably just make a little change on the individual cases last minute.

I hardly thought the first episode was the best in the series. It does seem the most action packed, but it is like that kind of opening that throws so much at you and makes you go, "What the hell just happened?!?" The series proceeds to explain a lot after that though.

Context is something to bear in mind regarding the first episode - it was a masterful bit of mis-direction on behalf of the writers that required you to be familiar with the manga can never truly be experienced the same way again since the cat is firmly out of the bag.

Spoiler: Highlight to view
Before the first episode aired all the information released was regarding those new characters, and fans of the manga were annoyed that the anime seemed to be doing an original story rather than following the manga. Then you get the big surprise at the end of the episode and it is revealed that it is actually a direct prequel to the manga. After that that official site was updated with the true information and Kagura an co's profiles.

I'm going to start watching Ga Rei Zero now. I'm gonna watch episode 1 over and then continue watching 2-through whatever and then post my thoughts for it.
