Textless Openings/Closings audio channels

I wasn't able to find another topic answering this and I'm really not sure if this is the right forum, so mods, feel free to move it elsewhere, if necessary.

But I really wanted to ask...does anyone know if there is a reason that the textless songs on the sets are always in 2 channel, rather than 5.1? Even the few translated songs (One Piece, DBZ Kai) are in 2.0.

It's really kind of disappointing, because I love listening/watching them from time to time without all the credits, but them being in a two channel format really lessens the enjoyment.

Re: Textless Openings/Closings audio channels

Well, nearly all anime only have two channel audio - most of the 5.1 mixes are done in the US.
I can see two main reasons for not providing a 5.1 version of the clean OP/Ed:

If they are just dropping in the extras as provided, they will be in 2.0.
Unlike the show itself where they have the individual voice tracks to play with, there is little benefit on upmixing the music.
