I found out that anime companies such as ADV Films and Geneon Entertainment have released sountracks in the US, but they are out of print for years and can cost huge prices. There hasn't been any anime sountrack release since Geneon's closure, so it would be great if Funimation decided to start releasing soundtracks. The soundtracks would be released bundled with the Blu-Ray+DVD Combo Pack releases and as standalone releases.

I think this would be cool too! they could also make their own drama cds with their voice actors.
While that is a good Idea, its most likely not financially pheasible for Funimation, at least not atm, if you'll remember ADV & Geneon are both no more (well ok ADV is as various other companies labels Senta/S23/madeinJapan/etc.) But you know what I mean.
I'm sure Funimation could probably work out a deal to include OST's in speacial edition releases of shows, but my guess is their just hasn't been enough demand for them to do such a thing.

I have to agree with you, soundtrack's would be pretty cool actually.
I don't think that's what I meant. At least they could also release drama cds and an extra disc for the dubbed versions.
Well it is an appealing content. It certainly would be a nice gesture for the Limited Edition sets to actually come with something more than a nicer box. Only other one that had something more was Rideback, and that was a keychain.
Being wrong is not a democracy!
Sound tracks would definetly be cool. So many series have such great music to them.
I reject your reality and replace it with my own.
I for one would love to see soundtracks released by Funimation. I'd probably suffer a joy-gasm if they did hybrid or English drama CDs. (I loved those extras with Code Geass from Bandai but then they dropped them. I still don't own R2 as a result of my displeasure making me unwilling to spend my money on the singles.)
If they want to see how fans would react to the endeavor, they should license the drama CDs for Fruits Basket and release them with another release of the show at some anniversary date.
English dubs rule! Spread the love, raise the profit, get more anime.

I like this idea, but I'm afraid of what the prices would be if they're bundled with blu-ray/dvd combos. It would be a nice edition to them yes. If the price is outrageous, it could end up losing out some regular buyers.
I actually believe they could just sell the soundtracks seperately again, other than bundling them. Let's face it, some people enjoy listening to the OST of a particular series in both native Japanese and there own language. Personally that is part me, where I have my copies of the OST from the original Full Metal Alchemist releases.
However, with the day and age of internet downloads of music licenses it probably is more practicle to license and have iTunes run the sales. But more than likely the Japanese parent companies themselves would do that first.
English Drama CDs though are a different thought to me, especially if they use the VA from a series. Reminds me of that bit in Lucky Star were Konata is talking of just said subject where the VAs are different between the anime and audio versions. So it would be nice to have an english version as remember, "You can't put subtitles on your stereo". And reading the translation through typed form isn't as fun as hearing it.

I believe Geneon (RIP) had a soundtrack division. ADV ostensibly did as well, although I'm not aware of a single release they put out.
At any rate, I am highly in favor of this idea. There are quite a number of Funimation-licensed series to which I would gladly purchase the soundtracks if they were legally available. I already have the OSTs for Fullmetal Alchemist (easily one of the best anime OSTs ever), Gunslinger Girl and Shigurui which I acquired through... means.
