Packaging

So I know Funimation has had a rough time regarding choosing between DVD or BD-size cases for combo releases, I can understand a few bumps while they iron it out, but the fact that it's still ongoing it makes me wonder, what kind of feedback we can leave that will help solve this? Or am I the only one that's bothered by looking at a series that looks nice and neat in my BD shelf until one odd part that either sticks out or has to be placed on a different shelf away from the rest of the series (Eden of the East TV/Movies, FMA:Brotherhood OVA/Everything Else, Strike Witches S1/S2 LE, BakaTest 2/OVA [completely incompatible despite releasing within a month of each other], and Hellsing TV/Ultimate, for examples that I own)

Personally I'd like to make the following suggestions:

1. DVD-sized for any series that has ANY DVD-sized release, BD-sized releases for everything else.
2. Cater to the First Release buyers first. Strike Witches 2's "Insert Season 1 here, [but only if you just bought the BD re-release, sorry everyone else]" is a huge kick in the nuts after having it pre-ordered for a whole year. I want to say matching spines, too, but LE boxes kinda offset that.
3. (Alternate to 1) Do both sizes just for the transition period, like with the FMA:B Movie.
4. Other changes to packaging like internal spacers for BD-sized products in DVD LEs, 3+ deep LE boxes (or LEs with Movies? HLP S2 BDs could use an LE box, too), blank cases and slips for transplanting older releases. (I suppose most of these sound unlikely, but I'll put them here anyways)

What do the rest you guys prefer/think?

Re: Packaging

FUNi has had numerous surveys in the past, including ones that focus specifically on packaging. Leaving feedback via the Consumer Survey may better reach the people who make these decisions.

Since I haven't been able to buy anything recently, my opinion doesn't matter much. Honestly, I prefer the Blu-ray packaging, but using it for all products may be a bit unrealistic. While BD seems to be gaining ground, that seems to have tapered off in the last few years; we may never have a perfect solution before physical media is no longer a viable distribution method.

Re: Packaging

I figured they started using more blu-ray packaging because it was cheaper.

Re: Packaging

That and with so many of the new releases having combos now the BD sets are easier to make. But I understand about th eStrike Witches thing. Was not happy I had to re-buy S1 to get it to fit in the smaller BD LE box. But as far as most the other relases go . I don't really have a prefrence to which style they use. The BD or DVD cases.

Re: Packaging

I would prefer to see all released titles offered in BD. As far as packaging goes, I don't really mind either size. If someone wants to have BD size cases instead of DVD size, perhaps FUNimation can offer for sale (or links to sites that offer) packs of blank BD cases...
