Re: List of confirmed properties that FUNimation is considering / delays in releases
It was probably mentioned already but when did Funimation start getting into the habit of delaying their releases?
A few weeks or a month isn't THAT bad but it seems no release date is guaranteed anymore.
1) When they started to introduce limited edition packing.
2) When they delayed DVD releases just so they could release it with Blu-Ray in combo packs.
Since Japan fears reverse importation it probably means waiting longer until a series has been fully released in Japan for an indefinite number of months before Funimation gets the "Ok" to release something on blu-ray; even though DVD buyers (like myself & who hate combo packs) could get a DVD copy sooner since it doesn't share the same region code as Japan.
3) When Funimation was put up for sale.
Even though we were told day-to-day operations would continue as normal, maybe it did cause the work schedule to be thrown off.
4) Funimation come to a point where they've licensed too many shows at once that they can't work on all of them and release them in a set period of time anymore.

It feels like this has been the case for well over a year now, so I'm not sure if any of those really apply, though they may have added to the turnaround time.
#4 seems like it would be most applicable, and #2 might have the greatest impact, but only for very certain titles.
Re: List of confirmed properties that FUNimation is considering / delays in releases
@Jackson_H something else to take into account is the still recent disaster that hit Japan and the knock-on effects of that (e.g. shortage of HDCAM tapes). Did they commonly release DVDs before the BDs anyway? It stands to reason to release them together even when they aren't in combined packaging.

@ Shiroi Hane
You have a good point about the disaster in Japan affecting newly licensed titles but some titles that Funimation had before the disaster (and completed) are still in limbo.
In the past Funimation would sometimes release series on DVD months before blu-ray. I know that Slayers Revolution and Evolution-R were one example.

ANN cast did just say that there will be delays on new licenses like stein;s gate or blue exorcist because of delays in masters.
Re: List of confirmed properties that FUNimation is considering / delays in releases
Materials aren't the only issues - the disaster caused huge problems for Anime on Demand's launch and they are still over a month behind Crunchyroll on the Steins;Gate simulcast. There are probably all sorts of knock on effects all through the industry that we are completely unaware of. As for the Geneon Universal titles.. that's a special case and we still have no idea what's going on there (somewhat comparable to the year-long silence after the Kiddy Grade sequel was first announced in Japan; still don't know what went on but it involved a change of animation studio).

Tantei's FTW
I like the fact they picked up Deadman Wonderland, and Steins Gate, I hope they get Gosick as well.

5) A combination of some of all the above
