Blame Vita and all her bootlegs, non-fan-service anime just isn't brining home the bacon.
How about you take your pompous ass and shove it? That sound good? Good.
I don't want to here you say shit when IN FACT I buys grands worth of anime. I buy legal copies if I can, in fact, I throw out bootlegs when I get legal copies. I'm just not going to go out of my to please the OOP market and spend a shit load of money on something that was retailed at $80.
So, if you want to bloody help the market, go be a Nazi towards people that don't support the market in legal ways. That sound good? I just love how people love putting the blame on a 1 person, when in fact they're not the source of the problem.
The source is cheap ass fans that say they're fans, but when it comes down to it, they're not, when they won't be willing to put up the money for their said "favorite" series. Hell, FMA wasn't even picked up by half the fans that said they were fans of the series. And yes, Funimation asked fans at a convention and asked if they watched and liked FMA. There were 3 types of people: people that didn't like the show, people that liked it and didn't support the releases, and people that liked it and supported it.
They're losing a lot of money from people that don't support. Hell, you want cheap ass fans, people complain about the SAVE line costing too much. People complain about a FULL SET costing $30 at retail, $20 if they know this wonderful place called Amazon. Anime has been in the crap hole ever since it stopped going off TV, they don't advertise their titles (US market, could give a rat's ass about the Japanese's market) Funimation and Sentai just get titles and hope it'll bring in new fans...when in fact they won't unless they do some extra work to reach the masses.
I was out of anime when it stopped airing on TV back in 08...watching anime on the TV was my way of knowing what was out. When it was taken off, I stopped watching it and buying it because I had no idea what was out there. I got back into anime in 2011-12 when my friend was like "watch soul eater, I'm sure you'll like it, it'll remind you of the comic project we're working on"
If Funimation and Sentai want more fans and money, they best get off their asses and put ads out there.
