Blu-Ray Regions

Good evening!

I am confused by Blu-Ray region coding on Funi discs and I am getting different pieces of information from various sources.

I am situated in Region B. One source claims that the Claymore set (for example) is Region A and B, while another claims it is A only.

Can somebody please supply a definitive list of ALL discs with A and B coding?

It would be MUCH appreciated!!

Thanks!!

Re: Blu-Ray Regions

You're much more likely to find such a list at places like The Fandom Post, where there seem to be a lot more international fans, and fans interested in formats and specs.

Re: Blu-Ray Regions

http://regionfreemovies.com I have found much information on this site. occasionally I have wanted to purchase imports from amazon and didn't trust the sellers information so I confirmed it at this site. They list everything, even anime releases

*claymore is region free confirmed by them http://regionfreemovies.com/bluray/Claymore_-_Complete_Series_Box_Set/US

Re: Blu-Ray Regions

I'm not 100% but I believe the region the releases are compatible with depend on the title, some Blu-Ray releases are A only others are A & B, it all depends on what the contract for the shows release says, Funimation can only make their releases compatible with multiple regions if the company in Japan they license the title from allows them to.

For example Summer Wars is Region A only but Eva 1.11 is A & B. But yeah I guess your best bet at this point is just to use Katsura's link and any other form of legit sources you can find.

Thanks!! Will check it out.

I hope that in the future all discs will be region free. I think I would eventually like to import a Region A Blu-Ray player... Until then I can at least enjoy SOME Anime on Blu-Ray.

Re: Blu-Ray Regions

You can install a blu ray drive in your computer and you can set the region in Windows. Then you just run an HDMI to your tv. Blu ray drives are quite cheap too, Ive seen them for as low as $25-$35 (US) I think Windows allows 3 or 5 region assignment changes....can't remember exactly which. What I'm not sure of though if it is a per drive assignment or if changing it changes all of the drives in the computer, secondly I've never really run into a situation where I had to figure out if software discs are region coded. Games typically are though so if you are a gamer you might want to make sure before doing that though (although it isn't irreversible...)

Re: Blu-Ray Regions

There are cases where some discs in a series are A and others are A+B (e.g. Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood).
There are also cases where later printings of discs have had different region codes to the initial printing (e.g. Spice and Wolf).
Sometimes the actual coding differs from what it states on the case.

Two sources stating Claymore as A+B:
