Yup. We know they have Blu-ray rights because they have mentioned at cons and whatnot that they do, but Kadokawa won't let them release it. So instead of sitting on the title even longer, they chose to release it DVD only for the time being.

Does Funimation have ambitions to release Panty and Stocking on Blu ray in the future?
If that's the case I can wait, I just want to be sure of there are plans of such things, it looks so funny after watching the trailer, I will try to check out some episodes too, but I have a strong feeling it will be good.

Neowalrus here is the thing. Funi would like to release everything on BD if they could. It really all depends on if the Japanese company that holds the license is afraid of reverse imports or not. Kadokawa is scared stiff, others aren't, its a wait and see.

Yeah, I completely get it, I know there's a lot of "red tape" when it comes to this sort of thing, and as a fan I understand that you may have to wait a little longer for certain things, which is fine - the point is better late than never, I can hold out for a blu ray release, even if it takes a year to come out.
The question is: if I wait, will there be a blu ray release a while from now? I would assume and hope that there will be, and to repeat, I know things can't come out when we want them, it's out of Funimation's hands, so the only choice as a customer is to chill out, take it easy, and purchase said item when available.
