NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS SWEEPSTAKES. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
I. ELIGIBILITY
- Employees of FUNimation Entertainment, their subsidiaries and affiliated companies and anyone involved in the production, or administration of the contest, as well as immediate family/same household members of anyone so employed or engaged are not eligible for prize awards. “Immediate family members,” shall mean parents, step-parents, children, step-children, grandchildren, step-grandchildren, siblings, step-siblings, or spouses, regardless of where they live. “Household members,” shall mean people who share the same residence at least three non-consecutive months a year, whether related or not.
The Contest is open only to legal residents of the United States and Canada (excluding Quebec). For Canadian residents, submitting a video and release according to the rules answers the challenge question. Residents must be 18 years of age or older as of the date of entry to participate. Void in Guam, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and other U.S. territories and possessions, and where prohibited or restricted by law.
Void where prohibited or restricted by law and subject to all applicable federal, state, provincial, local and municipal laws. Contest is void in Quebec.
FUNimation reserves the right to at any time implement new eligibility criteria and/or modify existing eligibility criteria, including, without limitation, geographical, and age restrictions.
Entrant (and, to the best of Entrant's knowledge, any person appearing in the entry) must not be a candidate for public office and not become such a candidate for Eighteen months from the date contestant submits the Home Video Exclusive release and Personal release to FUNimation.
Contestants whose videos are chosen as finalists or winners must sign a Release and Indemnity Form attesting, among other things, to the fact that they are the rightful owners of the submitted videos and that the video may be submitted and telecast, and ownership transferred to FUNimation, without obtaining permission from or making any payment to any third party. All persons submitting the video(s) or appearing or heard in the video(s) must sign the Releases (which shall, among other things, grant to FUNimation the ownership rights in the video(s) and the right to use such person's name, voice and likeness in any manner, commercial or otherwise, and in any and all media whether now known or hereafter devised throughout the universe and in perpetuity, including, without limitation, for programming, promotional and advertising purposes) before the submission can be eligible for prize awards. A legal guardian must sign the Release forms for minors. Failure to provide requested Releases and/or consents will result in disqualification of entrant. These Release forms will be provided by the FUNimation. Notwithstanding the foregoing, and without limitation of the rights granted to FUNimation, the submission of a video constitutes the entrant's permission to use the video and the name, voice and likeness of the entrant, as well as the entrant's representation that he/she has obtained all necessary permissions and approvals to use the video and the name, voice and likeness of all persons appearing in the video, in and in connection with the program and any and all other exploitations thereof or otherwise, including, without limitation, for programming, advertising and promotion purposes, in all media now known or hereinafter created.
Each submission must be solely the original work of entrant/submitter, must be no more than 120 seconds in length and must be created after the announcement of this Contest.
Each contestant represents that his/her submission does not infringe on any third party's copyrighted material, trademark or other intellectual property rights, or privacy or publicity rights.
By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees to release, discharge, defend and hold harmless YouTube, FUNimation Entertainment and their respective parent, subsidiary and affiliated companies and their respective licensees, assigns, officers, directors, employees, agents and representatives from and against any claim, expense or liability arising from or related to submission, exhibition or exploitation of the entry, participation in this Contest (or any related sweepstakes), or otherwise and/or acceptance or use of any prize.
Each contestant acknowledges and agrees that his/her submission may or may not receive exposure in the media, that competing submissions may receive more or less exposure in the media, and that FUNimation and/or third parties may initiate, assist or cooperate with media requests or exposure in connection with any submission(s). Contestant understands, agrees and assumes the risk that media exposure of his/her submission, if any, may not be the same or commensurate with that of other competing submissions and that such exposure may or may not have an actual or perceived impact on voting results. Contestant explicitly acknowledges and agrees that the Releases given by contestant shall cover any claim, expense or liability arising from or relating to such media contact or exposure, or the lack thereof.
Each contestant agrees that his/her participation and submission shall be governed by and construed under and in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas applicable to contracts entered into and wholly performed therein. Each contestant consents and agrees to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the federal and state courts of the State of Texas, located in the County of Dallas.
Entrants that have already won three contests on FUNimation.com in the course of one year since their first win are not eligible unless otherwise stated. Void where prohibited.
II. CONTEST DEADLINE
The Promotion begins at 1:00 p.m. Central Standard Time (“CST”) on September 23, 2011 and ends at 11:59 p.m. CST on October 9, 2011 (the “Promotion Period”). All submissions must be completed via emailing the required information to and returning the completed release form before the deadline. A submission may be considered incomplete if the associated YouTube video has not finished processing and does not become available for public viewing before this deadline.
Deadlines are subject to change at FUNimation’s sole discretion.

IV. HOW TO ENTER
- Contestants must post their original video to YouTube and submit their entry via emailing the contestant’s name, address, age, contact information, URL and title of the video to with the subject line of “Funimation Hetalia Fan Videos Contest”. Videos will be reviewed on an ongoing basis but no winners will be announced until the end of the Contest. Up to five submissions per contestant are permissible.
All submissions become the sole property of FUNimation with non-exclusive license to YouTube and the contestant. This license may be terminated at any time. All submissions may be used in any manner, commercial or otherwise, in any and all media now known or hereafter devised throughout the universe in perpetuity. FUNimation is not responsible for lost, damaged, removed, blocked or misdirected videos under any circumstances. Please keep a copy of your submission(s).
Instructions for uploading videos to YouTube are available on YouTube. Instructions for including the link to your uploaded video with your submission are available on http://www.funimation.com/news. Video submissions should adhere to the YouTube Community Guidelines. We also suggest that you format/prepare your video file as per YouTube’s suggestions.
Entrant understands and agrees his/her video submission may receive exposure on YouTube and funimation.com and may be subjected to comments and popularity ratings from the public at large. FUNimation is not responsible in any manner for any critical or derogatory remarks posted by the public pertaining to a contestant or an entrant's video.
FUNimation reserves the right to edit and/or alter any submission in FUNimation’s sole discretion.
FUNimation’s decisions regarding all Contest matters are final. All submissions are subject to the terms of these rules and all contestants agree to be bound by these rules and FUNimation’s decisions. FUNimation reserves the right in its sole discretion to amend these rules at any time and FUNimation will post the revised rules and/or notice of any such rule changes on funimation.com. The rules in effect at whatever time the submission is judged will apply regardless of submission date.
FUNimation is not responsible for internet system and hardware failures; delayed, incomplete or unsuccessful transmission of video or other entry information; technical malfunctions of any kind; human error; information loss and downtime; or any costs, losses, liability or damages resulting from any such failures. In the event of any such technical difficulty, malfunction or error, FUNimation reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to take such actions as it deems appropriate in keeping with the fairness and integrity of the Contest, including without limitation a determination to take no action.
FUNimation may, at its sole discretion, remove, delete and/or disqualify any Video it deems inappropriate or otherwise non-compliant.
Submissions that do not adhere to the Official Rules as determined by FUNimation in its sole discretion will be considered void.
All potential winners are subject to verification before any prize will be awarded. Multiple entrants are not permitted to share the same email address. Any attempt by any entrant to enter more than once by mailing more than one entry form or using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and logins, or any other methods will void that entrant’s plays and that entrant may be disqualified. Use of any automated system to participate or entries generated by robots or scripts is prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification.
Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible or misdirected entries, which will be disqualified. In the event of a dispute as to any entry, the authorized account holder of the email address used to enter will be deemed to be the entrant. The “authorized account holder” is the natural person assigned an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, Internet service provider or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted address. All entries will be deemed to have been made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address. Each potential winner may be required to show proof of being the authorized account holder.
All entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. By providing your e-mail address, you grant Sponsor the right to send you commercial messages. Information collected from entrants is subject to the Privacy Policy on http://beta.funimation.com/privacy-policy.
V. JUDGING CRITERIA
Videos will be judged on originality, overall entertainment value and the effectiveness in answering the question, “Why do you love Hetalia and why should everyone else too?” all within a Hetalia series theme.
VI. WINNER SELECTION & VERIFICATION:
- Ten (10) finalists will be announced the week of October 17, 2011. Winners will be announced before October 22, 2011 provided they certify and establish to FUNimation’s satisfaction that they are the owner(s) of the video and further provided that they have complied with the official rules and signed all necessary Releases and any other forms as determined by FUNimation.
- Odds of winning the prize depend upon the number of eligible entries received. Potential winners will be notified by email. If the potential winner cannot be reached within 2 calendar days from the first notification attempt, or in the event of noncompliance within the above stated time period, with these Official Rules, or if prize notification is returned as undeliverable, prize will be forfeited and, at Sponsor’s sole discretion, an alternate winner may be selected.
- Among other rights, in signing the Release and Affidavit, winner will grant to FUNimation and its affiliated entities the right to videotape him/her; such videotape may be used, in whole or in part, at the sole discretion of FUNimation, as part of a broadcast or re-broadcast or distribution in any other media of FUNimation’s choosing, airing on The FUNimation Channel (or another network) or for promotional purposes (including, without limitation, in commercial tie-ins) by FUNimation or their respective related, parent, affiliated or subsidiary companies.
VII. PRIZES
- The Grand Prize winners (2) will receive a Hetalia memorabilia and merchandise pack valued at approximately $500
The Finalists not selected for the Grand Prize will receive a Hetalia merchandise pack valued at approximately $80
All entrants who follow all rules, submit forms, and meet eligibility requirements will receive a prize valued at approximately $10.
Contestants are solely responsible for any taxes on their respective prizes. Prizes valued at $600 or more require the filing of a 1099 Miscellaneous Income Tax form. Payment of any and all federal, state and local taxes is the sole responsibility of the winner(s). Please be advised that winners are responsible for the payment of taxes on the prizes won. Winners should contact a tax advisor if they have any questions concerning their obligations. No substitution of prize is offered, except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. Prizes are non-transferable. Unclaimed prizes will not be awarded. If a prize, or any portion thereof, cannot be awarded for any reason, Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prize with another prize of equal or greater value. If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including without limitation, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, FUNimation reserves the right, at its sole discretion to cancel, modify or terminate the Contest. Further, FUNimation reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual deemed to be (a) tampering or attempting to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or any FUNimation or Contest-related Web Site; (b) violating the Official Rules; (c) violating the Web Site terms of service, conditions of use and/or applicable general rules or guidelines; or (d) acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.
VIII. General Conditions
Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify the Promotion if fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control impairs the integrity of the Promotion, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. In such event, Sponsor reserves the right to award the prize at random from among the eligible entries received up to the time of the impairment. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Promotion or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules, or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to deliberately damage any web site or undermine the legitimate operation of the Promotion is a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages, including attorney’s fees, from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
IX. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY
This Promotion is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which shall be final and waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Promotion or these Official Rules. The Sponsor is not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrants, printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with Sponsor or Promotion; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process; (4) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Promotion or the processing of entries; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the Promotion or receipt or use of any prize.
Further, winners and entrants also agree to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless the Sponsor and its respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents from and against any claims, damages or liability due to any injuries, damages or losses to any person (including personal injury or death) or property of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of the prizes or participation in any Promotion-related activity or participation in this Promotion, or any claims based on rights of publicity, rights of privacy and/or merchandise delivery.
X. Releases
- All winners must sign all general Releases and other documentation in the form provided by FUNimation or be eliminated from consideration and made ineligible to win any prize. Releases will include, among other things, a statement that the videos were the exclusive property of the entrant(s) at the time they were submitted.
Releases must be obtained from all identifiable persons depicted, seen or heard in the videos.

VIII. Rules/Winner’s List:
After October 9, 2011, you may obtain the names of the Winners by consulting the Website. Results of the drawing may be removed from the Website, but not before December 1, 2011.
