Welcome to the FUNimation Channel come to Canada thread, where I give updates and news about the FUNimation Channel coming to Canada.
Known information:
At their Anime North panel last year, FUNimation marketing director Lance Heiskell said that FUNi working on expanding the availability of the FUNimation Channel into Canada.
From FUNimation Channel's Facebook page, we have been told "We do plan to expand to Canada at some point in the near future" and "We will get there eventually".

First of all, if the channel were to launch in Canada, it would have to meet all sorts of crazy requirements by the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission) before finally granted approval by them to launch Funimation Channel Canada. Most likely (until it could start as a linear 24/7 channel), it could start as a programming block (like the one on the now-defunct Colours TV before finally becoming a 24/7 channel) on a channel like G4 Canada. If it does, this means that it would be a joint venture with Funimation Entertainment and Rogers Media (G4 Canada's parent company) to launch the channel.
FUNimation, on their Facebook account, is stating that the FUNimation Channel is about to meet with Rogers Communications in Canada.
Hopefully Rogers will help get the FUNimation Channel to be available in Canada.
I was right since I the company that owns G4 Canada (a channel that was also known to air anime), Rogers Communications, is goint to partner with Funimation to launch Funimation Channel in Canada. Somewhat coincidental, but kind of expected to me.
Not really since we don't know what they are in talks about, it just could be for the VOD service.
Well, what about the 24/7 service? Canada really needs a 24/7 anime channel since Corus Entertainment failed to launch The Anime Channel and that YTV ended its Bionix Block, as well as G4 Canada currently not airing the Anime Current block although they have plans to air it again. Please Funimation and Rogers, bring the 24/7 channel to Canada.
i agree! please bring us funimation channel!
More information about the FUNimation Channel coming to Canada:
If FUNimation Channel come to Canada It would make me very happy. (and other anime fans in Canada.) Anime in Canada is kind of dead now. ahh if only Corus would of launch that Anime Channel it could of help anime get bigger in Canada.
The Anime Channel is dead.
Guess that leaves Corus having to partner with a company like Sony to launch Animax Canada (also another anime channel) to take the place of what The Anime Channel was to take place if it did launch. Also to mention that Corus used to own 50% (alsongside with Hearst) of the now-defunct Latin American channel Locomotion (which is also another anime channel).
