I've been a big fan of this series, have watched both animes, both the films and all the OVAs, and I don't want it to end!
As far as I know there has been nothing new announced since The Sacred Star of Milos, and I want moarrrrr. What's this show's future?!

So what's next for Fullmetal Alchemist?

I have no idea sadly. I do like how it's not the type of series that will drag on and "milk it" so to say. It's smart, deep, dark, and amazing and the creators, especially the creator are very humble and don't want it ending up like DBZ or something where they had about two follow up series after it was done. I heard rumors about a sequel to Brotherhood however i'm not sure if this is rumor or fact. We'll have to wait and see.

Best you can hope for is an OVA of the extra manga chapter (epilogue)

Aside from video games, nothing. Arakawa gets her high credibility and continues to work on other titles while nobody milks the franchise like Dragon Ball.
There might be another Movie or OVA in the near future, but I highly doubt there will ever be another FMA anime series, that would require Arakawa to write another FMA manga...
Unless you want the new FMA anime series to be anime-only, like Dragon Ball GT?
I'm sure no one wants that to happen, lol!

I'm not sure if this is true or not, since I read it on the FMA wikia page under Mustang, but it said that Hiromu Arakawa was thinking about possibly doing another manga to show Mustangs rise to Fuhrer. Again, they said she had said it but, I'm not sure if it's true.
In general, you can't trust what you read on a Wiki, at least for entertainment things like this. It could be true, and that could prove awesome, but just don't get your hopes up. ^_^
That and, so far as I know, Arakawa's newer manga is still going.
I think FMA is probably done for the time being, and likely won't get another series again (movies or specials are always entirely possible though), and that's nothing to be sad about in this case. It has two different very successful and very good shows, which is more than a lot of properties can boast.
If we were to get something though, I would personally hope for some sort of followup to Conqueror of Shamballa and finish closing up that universe.

I kinda want there to be more, not to Brotherhood because I know the manga ended and I wouldn't want them to mess that up but with the original series. Ever since the end I wanted to see more. I mean that whole show wasn't based off the anime. They could resume the story in Munich where Ed and Al would try to get home without having to open a permanent portal. I know that may not appeal to all the fans but I for one would be watching!
