Can anyone tell me if this mvoie was released in Japan yet? Also what's it even about? Also I heard it's a side story but does it still continue from Brotherhood? Thanks

It comes out in Japan July 7th 2011.
According to reports the movie is a standalone story that doesn't touch FMA Brotherhood or any of the events that occured in it thank god. I would view the movie as a filler story with the main cast in it, which is good.
FMA Brotherhood ended wonderfully and any direct continuation should be done by the author, not a studio looking to cash in on the series. And judging by this movie, they've respected that fact.

It's not a continuation of anything. It's simply a stand-alone film.

You shouldn't have to know much in the FMA universe to get into this film for sure.
Looking forward to the film though next year!
