Discussion of Fractale, and what did you think of it?

So... this may be a little pretentious of me to try and start a thread like this. But since I want to know what other people thought, here I go.

So... here is the million dollar question, What did you think of Fractale?

Now... for my own answer to the question:

Having just finished it myself, I can say without a doubt that I really enjoyed it. I thought that some of the concepts introduced throughout the series were pretty interesting, and I also really liked the art style they used.

Unfortunately, I have to admit that probably the most memorable thing about the series was the intro, but that's mostly because the intro is just so far out, that I think anyone would remember it no matter what they thought of the series.

Also, I don't know what anyone else thinks, but I thought that the series presented an interesting kind of social commentary.

I thought this was absolute crap. I came in with really high expectations and I enjoyed the first two episodes. The series had bad jokes, annoying characters, it was full of plot holes. The fractale system was something I thought would be explored more yet they barely covered it. Highlight of the series was Aki Toyosaki playing Meegan.

The series was disappointing, especially considering all the hype surrounding it when it was announced, but I still think it was "okay." Definitely think the series could've benefited greatly from having another 12-13 episodes for the sake of expansion, but even then, the finale was kind of... anticlimactic? I mean, considering

Spoiler: Highlight to view
they were trying to shut down Fractale the whole time, only to sacrifice Phryne/Nessa (more or less) to reboot it anyway...? Granted, there's never going to be another reboot, but it still seems rather silly to end things that way, after building up toward the idea of bringing it to an immediate end.

All in all, I don't think it was a horrible series, but it most certainly fell far from what the director was hyping it up to be. Had some nice potential, with what was presented, but it just never explored the setting enough to live up to that potential.

Overall I was very disappointed with the show. The first couple of episodes were pretty good but then it progressively got worse. I can see why the tv ratings were so poor. It had a feeling similar to Eureka 7 but the plot didn't hold up. The 11 episode length probably didn't help.

I will not be buying this but I do hope the dvd's do well for Funimation because I feel a little guilty. After watching the second episode Funimation had their latest survey on their blog and I expressed some interest in this show. Then Funimation announced they were going to release this on dvd. I know I am probably not the only one but Sorry Funimation!

Wow, there sure is a lot of hate for this show. I enjoyed it, personally. It had a very Final Fantasy-ish feel to it and despite its length, I thought it wrapped up nicely. Sure, some things could of been explained in a bit more detail, but I also like when a show leaves things to interpretation rather than spoon feeding information outright. I really couldn't see this series being too much longer than it was, either.

I thought it was just a good show. When I first saw it and the art, I thought that it would be a show that I would definitely have to own. As I was watching the subsequent episodes one after another, I just became a bit disinterested in the show. I finished it, but something just felt off or it was missing something to me.

I actually haven't finished the series, and I don't think I will anyway. I was not impressed with the whole series up to the point that I saw, which was like episode 8 or so.

Kind of a shame to see so many people disliked the series, but I must admit that such feelings are well-founded. While I prefer to highlight the good points of a series, this one does have its flaws and that's more than enough reason for people to dislike it.

I also believe that if the series had more episodes, say 15-24 total, then they could have expanded on the story and setting, as well as explain more about the Fractale system. But such is not the case so whatever one's feelings are, the result is what we were presented with.

In it's first week of sales, Fractale's DVD and BDs (which came with a bonus figure) combined to sell 883 copies.

Just thought someone might be interested.

I'd like to agree with the dislike of this series, but only because of the potential that was wasted.
The first episode presented such refreshing animation, an interesting concept, some cool characters and left me wanting more.
However, it quickly fell from grace as the characters became one-dimensional, the plot was extremely rushed and yet so stagnant, memorable moments were few and far between, poor jokes popped up, and it became a general mess of cliches.
In the end all I could do was remember the great animation and the serene ending song, while thinking of shows that took similar concepts and used them so much better (Eureka 7 comes to mind).

6/10 for me
